Spurs the dark horse in transfer.....

Walker wasn't one of our best players. In fact if there was one player I'd have let go before anyone else it would have been Walker.

Hi palmers glad to see you took my advice and kept the user name. Always makes me laugh

Spurs could sign 0 players and will still be better than the majority of teams in the league including liverpool & Utd.

It was funny listening to Goldstein and Cundy revving the spurs fans last night about their lack of signings. A question was posed - after selling Walker and not signing anyone, are spurs now weaker than they were last season?

90% of the spurs fans that rang up said No.

Of course we weaker. The one thing we lack is squad depth and selling Walker has definitely made us weaker. Poch likes to rotate the fullbacks and who comes in for Trippier if injured?
We definitely need a replacement but I am sure we will get one.

Walker was certainly one of our best players last season, I would argue second best. Yet I think he is one of the more replaceable players in our squad, highly athletic fullbacks aren't hard to come by and easy enough to coach.

I don't think that's fair on Walker. He was one of our best players last season. Only thing is we have lots of very good players.

Walker however may not be one of our most important players, at least on paper.

I like walker but he's not that good, his goal and assists return is average at best for an attacking full back, also he can't cross the ball that well, he's a good footballer though and Spurs could miss his ability to carry the ball.

posted on 26/7/17

He got the most assists out of any fullback last season though...

Walker got MOTM at least a couple of times at the beginning of last season, his going was a loss

posted on 26/7/17

he's going to be a big loss yes it was a massively inflated fee for him....but 50 mil can't play full back....and I for one have doubts over trippier over a whole campaign.

Walker will be a loss for them, good full back. Although I rate Trippier highly so £50m is quality business as per from levy with an in house replacement lined up.

You just know levy will sanktion spending big later in the window, he's just making statements to try and drive prices down imo. Smooth operator as ever.

I am confident also to be honest. I think we will make a couple of astute transfers

It wasn't your choice, Walker wanted to move to a club far more likely to do the business when it matters in April and May

We might, or we might sign another Sissoko and N'Jie, which wouldn't be that astute.

i don't think prices will go down closer to the window!

every side is playing hard ball over fees and even letting players go because of the fees quoted to replace them.

on the post above about walker not being one of spurs better players, he may not have been one of the stars of the team like Kane but he was the first choice right back of the 2 and saying anything different smacks of sour grapes. i think the great CB's you have enable both fullbacks but walker was one of the first 11!

Interviewer: "So Kyle, why did you decide to join Man City?"

Walker: "Well for me, it wasn't the manager, quality of players, massive wage increase, higher potential for winning trophies or that I wanted a new challenge. It was because City do business in April and May which really matters to me"

Plenty of time for Spurs to do some good business but i find it strange that Levy said:
"We have to find the right balance but I can honestly say it is not impacting us on transfer activity because we are not yet in a place where we have found a player that we want to buy who we cannot afford to buy."

Where are the signings then? If every time you have wanted to do a deal you have been able to afford it what is the problem?
