Not sure. Those teams seem to run out of steam sometimes in the CL. Juve have done well in Europe recently and Madrid dominate it. I don’t think any one style is more suited than another.
Yeh I’m not sure on the theory yet, it was only thought up after the pool vs city match. Would need to look into it more.
I do think Real Madrid aid the argument though as there team relies on organised chaos
Not sure that tie really shows any historical patterns. Madrid aren’t that style of team either really. They are a bit of everything, can play high tempo but also slow it down and build up play and control the game. That’s why they do so well as they are adaptable. But ultimately they have the best squad and a brilliant ability to rise to the occasion.
As well as sitting back and playing on the counter. And they have Ronaldo.

World class footballers and good fortune.
Good fortune plays way more of a part than I think anyone understands.
Usually winners come down to who is most fortunate when it comes to timings like injuries etc. Look at Chelsea last season, their first xi had no real injuries. Look at Arsenal losing the CC to Birmingham due to a one in a million error of its type.
Hell a PL title was decided on Rooney shinning it (kinda).
A beach ball cost Liverpool points once
High scoring sports like bball/rugby etc fortune isn’t as much of a thing
Rooney’s overhead didn't decide the title at all. There were oads of games left to play. Fortune certainly does play its part, far more so in cup football, though I guess it depends on what you define as fortunate as well.
Yeh my memory was a bit hazy with that one tbt
Cup ones are huge, literally our first tough game in the FA Cup is Man Utd. If Chelsea’s sheit form continues and we win the thing after beating Southampton we can win a trophy with Utd being the only top 15 side we have faced
FA Cup more than others for sure. Just because of the open draw and how many teams are in it the draw can have a big influence on it.
Yeh two legs helps balance out luck as well
Btw the invincible disrespect going on is ridiculous

Arsenal’s 01/02 double winning team was better than the invincibles for me

Yeah Edin it’s weird discussing them with some fans. Like I mentioned on the article, I think they get a bit overrated by Arsenal fans but underrated by many others.
People never seem to be able to distinguish between a team’s legacy in one premier league season compared with its success in other competitions or over a number of years.
People are making out like they are the Leicester winners or Utd 11/12 - and not up there in the top 5 greatest PL winners.

This times a thousand. In my opinion the top 5 goes for PL winners in one season;
1. Chelsea 09/10
2. Utd 07/08
3. Arsenal invinciblea
4. Chelsea 04/05
5 Utd 98/99
Chelsea 09/10
If you are looking at just premier league winners you could probably argue there are three or four other Man United teams alone that were more impressive. The legacy of that side was due to what we achieved in all competitions. In the prem we weren’t as dominant as some other sides we’ve had.
atleti under the cosh in rainy lisbon so far
Was having a thought earlier when I saw best xi to never win the CL and RVN wasn't in it but zlatan was. Argument to be had that RVN better than zlatan. I know I like him more so dunno if that clouds my judgement but never quite taken to zlatan
Ruud was an amazing striker, even though he retired about five years ago he’s still in the top 5 of most CL goals.
Lisbon should have had a last minute away goal last week too

There's an arguement to be had for our 93/94 side.
Lots of people have them down as their favourite United side and with good reason too. They were absolute dynamite.
