Actually wanted Leverkusen to pull it off, but there's no arguing who the better side was in the final.

It's also a fairytale way for Gasperini to win a trophy at long last, having had to beat an invincible team.

Yeah, I got it completely wrong - I thought Leverkusen would comfortably beat Atalanta. But I'm so happy to be proven wrong. I really wanted Gasperini to do it.

After losing three successive Coppa Italia finals, including the most recent one against an average Juventus side, it seemed a mammoth task to then beat a team unbeaten in 51 games and who cruised to the league title. Yet they dispatched them with ease. It was their first ever European final too.

He's done such a fantastic job at Atalanta and I'm glad that, regardless of what happens now, he has silverware to his name and has cemented himself in their history books with something tangible.

Also, if you can make Sead Kolasinac look like a competent footballer, then you're definitely doing something right

Hmm. Not sure about this one. Barca don't have the right profile of players for his style and their recruitment has been patchy of late, hasn't it? He'd need a bit of time to transform that squad. And better decisions made by Deco and co.
