No offence, but while there's no guarantee of Gattuso being a capable manager, generally speaking not only is Italy's coaching academy supposed to be second to none, but also, even while allowing for the role Gattuso played as a footballer, I'd still expect your average Italian midfielder to have more tactical nous than your average English striker or defender.
That was a longer sentence that I intended, but I hope you get the gist.

I just wanted to make fun of Content, don’t read into the comparison too much
Not sure it's a case of wanting a Pep, more that they just want an interim coach until the summer so they can make a play for Conte or Ancelotti.
Problem is they could find themselves going further backwards than under Montella and that makes tempting Conte and Carlo an even harder task - especially if they fail to qualify for the CL, which looks highly likely. That club is very badly run.
Even still, I'm not sure it's a Pep thing. Ex players/primavera coaches getting the gig at Milan isn't something uncommon. You could make a bigger claim that they're trying to find another Capello or Carlo. Pep wasn't the first or last of his kind with regard to his route to management, he's just an exeptional example.
Plus most of what I've read about Gattuso's appointment is that it's just an interim until the summer, which would suggest they aren't looking for their next Pep, Carlo or Capello.
Agree about signing too many players. Inter have had this problem as well.
Yep they stood still on and off the pitch, a Zlatan inspired title win only papered over the cracks.
I do think there's talent in their squad, though. But it'll take time and an excellent coach to get them back up the top.
If they get Conte in the summer I think it'd accelerate their rise up the league. Not sure Carlo would have quite the same impact - Conte's better at building a squad and getting the best out of his players, certainly lesser players.
Betis 3-5 Cádiz
Cádiz through 4-5 on aggregate!
Turned out to be a very interesting cup week.
Betis, Málaga, R. Sociedad and Athletic all knocked out by lower league sides coming from behind to upset the Liga boys.
Does that make it a piiiiiiss poor league or the most competitive league in the world?
Sociedad was the funniest. What is it with these crazy come backs recently?
Mental, from 3-0 aggregate at half time to bowing out on away goals.
But Lleida have a name of sorts.
The case of Formentera is the craziest of all, imo.
It's a tiny island https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formentera#/media/File:Formentera_sat.png south of Ibiza that's only accessible by sea and was barely even inhabited not that long ago. Less than a third of its current population is actually local, and their home ground capacity is just 1,000 people.
The island has some great beaches, but no claim to fame whatsoever other than the fact that a few hippies spent a few months smoking pot there in the 60s and 70s.
This is their first-ever season in Spain's 80-team third tier, and they're actually in the relegation battle.
Last night they knocked out Spain's most emblematic cup team at the ground considered the country's 'footballing cathedral'with the last kick (header) of the game.
The scenes were fabulous - the look of amazement and disbelief in the players' faces was priceless.

I didn't see them coming, tbh.
The crap format just isn't conducive to there being too many upsets.
was quite happy formentera knocked out athletic club tbh
I can't remember a team that small causing such a big upset.
I know we and Barça have sometimes got done over by 2ªB teams, but Real Unión, Figueres, Alcorcón and the likes are way bigger than Formentera.
Never been myself, but the Mrs went there once or twic in the 90s, says it was totally unspoilt, virgin beaches, virtually no infrastructuee. Pop. was about 5,000, less than half the current figure.
We still have one such island here in the Canaries too, under 30sq km, some great beaches and only a few hundred permanent residents.
