For those clued up about Portuguese footy, what type of footy do Amorim's teams play?
Results-wise his very short time in management has been absolutely remarkable.
I think Sporting have been helped this season quite a bit by their early exit from the Europa League in October ioag.
From what I've seen of them this season they're not a very expansive side or one that completely dominates possession. They're more pragmatic and focused on defensive organisation. They usually play some form of system with a back three/five, usually 3-4-3, they like to be compact, especially in central areas and they like to press high and aggressively.
Lyon open to selling Aouar for €30 million this summer according to L'Equipe.
Not had the best season but that's a steal.
Portuguese Conte then?
The French league is going to be ripe for picking this summer. At least Lille will win the league before they get picked apart.
Pochettino’s just an Argentine Emery. Without the trophies.

I like how his free kick technique and penalty technique were basically the same
Nice little bit of analysis on Chelsea and what Tuchel has done since he took charge on MNF by Carragher and Neville.
2nd in terms of points in the PL since he's been in charge, 1st for goals conceded, clean sheets, xG against, 1st for chances created in open play but unsurprisingly lower down in 7th for goals scored.
Carragher made a good point which quite a few on here would do well to listen to about the difference between being defensive and defending well, Chelsea being the latter.
Against City they defended aggressively in a high block with the wide CBs being tasked with pressing City's narrow wingers who were Torres and Sterling and when they stepped out to engage them, their defence easily became a back four.
The first goal came from this tactic with Azpilicueta who presses Sterling, shuts down the passing option to him, presses Rodri, dispossesses him, continues to move forward, receives the ball eventually and sets the goal up.
Some people have such a basic and deep-rooted view of football that they don't actually understand what they're watching, they can't process it. A perfect example is the use of different formations and how they're used by different teams. Some people's views are so set in stone and I've had this argument so many times with people and Darren will know that formations depend entirely on how you use them, one isn't necessarily more defensive or attacking than another.
I do think they are on the more defensive side - as demonstrated by the personnel who play but more importantly how cautious they are in possession looking to keep the ball away from the opposition more than looking to punish the opposition. I think while Darren’s TucheLVG comments were flippant more than anything there is an element of truth in it.
However I do agree with the wider point and context of it all. We played our best and most effective ever football with a 523 with only 3 traditional attackers - we’ve had much more attacking lineups under Jose but not played with even half the attacking intent.
Morespurs is a ray of sunshine on this forum
Yeah I agree with that, Edin. It looks like they’ve combined well the things the good things they were doing under Conte and Sarri, and have prioritised the defence without it necessarily being defensive - if that makes sense.
Chelsea cannot rely on their forwards, so can’t really play a more open game - with more attackers stationed higher up the pitch - without compromising the strength of their defence, in my opinion.
If they get a reliable striker, and their other attackers find some goal scoring form, I suspect they’ll move to a more attacking style of play than they are currently playing.
moregreaves is a delight. What’s he said this time?
I'm not suggesting they're an attacking side just to be clear nor are they the park the bus team as has been said by some, I'm just pointing out how easily people form their views just by the set up a team uses/number of defenders they play with.
Look at the Cavani thread
TRS, yeah I agree with that. Though I’d go against that view when we play three at the back, I hate it as it does always end up being five at the back and really defensive.

Just seen it.

Bild reporting United pursuing Sancho more intensely now and want to get the deal done before the Euros.
Ambitious for us if true, let's see if our recent restructuring has what it takes.
Let’s hope so. Still piiiissed off we didn’t get him last season.
