I thought it generally did increase the capacity as long as the number of fans in the stand can be safely evacuated, hence why someone like Dortmund have a lower attendance in Uefa games over bundesliga games.
Im all for it, they should reduce the price if it is standing

Don't think they can be used in European competitions at the moment.
All for it, the atmosphere will improve and I personally enjoy standing at the game.
Why should it cost less if your standing as opposed to sitting? You receive the same product.

Someone mentioned in another site that the rail seat layout means when open for standing the 'seat' allows for 1.5 people per space.
So the club increase capacity in that area, so you would happily still pay £40-ish for that experience?
First off we don't know if there will be an increase in capacity and second I think there would be uproar from people who are in the seated parts of the ground.

Plus I also stated that I was pro the option if it wasn't used to increase capacity and therefore profit for any club.
I like the idea but can understand the concerns given the history for us (and Everton fans). It's a shame Knotty isn't on here anymore as he lost a family member on that dark day - I'd like to know his opinion on this. If it's proven to be 'safe' then fair enough - so many things have changed since 89 with regards to going to a match that you'd hope it could never possibly happen again.
Also as a bit of an aside, who on earth 1-starred this article?

Fans groups back this, well one fans group. I wouldn't have a problem with it if it is done with one rail seal=one standing place.
At this point being comfortable is a priority, especially for me, getting someone else in my spot to stand isn't high on my list
Technology, stewarding and policingnat matches have all moved on after the Taylor reportnso I'd be for it. However if the Hillsborough families were against it I would respect their opinion.
If we did go for it I'd love to see The Kop standing again.
Very apprehensive about it. Needs to be very strictly monitored so there isn't any congestion/overcrowding in the "safe standing" areas.
If it is able to be accomplished then okay, I'd need to read up a lot more about it though personally.

I agree with the one rail seat = one standing seat 100%. It's if it starts becoming 1 seat = 1.5/2 standing that issues could arise.
If they still install seats anyway, how will that increase capacity? Surely it'll be the same just with an option to stand now as well as sitting?
