This isn't the Middle East.
Should be throw into a pool of acid. They wouldn't even think about doing it if that was the penalty. Country is too soft....and full of foreigners

Getting back to an earlier post where it was suggested these crimes are possibly the result of inequality, I don't understand the connection with random acid attacks, surely if you had a grievance with the state, then why attack the general public?
How will this bring about a change in circumstances?
This is just pure cowardice as I see it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course it's cowardice.
My comment was regarding a general deterioration of society and a rise in crime being inevitable given the increasing inequality and decreasing services in this country
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I definitely think there's something in this. I think the problem is people try to look at this as a rational cartoon or an intelligent response.
But much like the terrorism argument, there's no justification for this kind of thing. It is however naive not to look at the contributing factors are to the environment that produces these kind of action.
And sadly if a behaviour starts occurring frequently, you have to start considering the environment as well as personal rationale/ behaviour

I'd actually favour public flogging or birching....& I'd definately paricipate
I'll be a bit hypocritical actually, I don't know if it's just a london thing or it happens everywhere, but the little scrotes who hang about in all weather with their hoodies, jogging bottoms riding low like prison bait should just be locked up or battered just for being suspicious and dressing like cretins.
There are dirty, low life little scrotes in all major cities but London does seem to have a different breed of them.
Our capital is getting more and more like America's
problem cities.
People do terrible things. More terrible things happen in big cities because there are more people. There are probably more depraved acts per capita in provincial towns, especially economically depressed ones, because there's lots of people there with nothing much to do and limited imagination. London is a great city. Feel free to keep away if you're afraid of crowds, hostile to diversity, or think that a few isolated acid attacks is representative of the general London experience.
London has some beautiful areas but youncouldnt pay me to live in south, east or north.
That significantly better than other U.K. Cities however. We have some right dumps here.
I couldn't live in any city, and especially not in London. I would struggle to live in a town that is too large. I like wide open spaces, and no fecking neighbours.
As for the people doing this acid attacks, they should be locked away for many years, but also made to do work that benefits the community/victims.
Too soft here imo.
Well said RR, London's a great place if you're willing to embrace it. Yes money is an issue and there are too many who struggle. But it is still one of the best cities in the world.
Some people aren't city types and that's totally fine but if you like culture and diversity then London can be great.
I love visiting London, better than Paris imo.
Anyone who commits this act should be executed.

I moved to London from Manchester 5 years ago. I have traveled all over the world and I can safely say London is one of the best cities in the world. Every city has it's dodgy parts and London is just the same. The majority of London is a pleasant and amazing place to live. Loads of parks, amazing bars and restaurants, museums, culture and leading companies to work for. Take your blinkers off.

That's the thing, 1982. I can accept anyone saying they don't enjoy large metropolises. Some people don't like bustle. Some people like to feel like they know a high percentage of the people who live in the same place as them. But they ought to understand that it's not that 'London is a sheit hole', an exceptionally bad place, but rather that they're probably not big city people, who wouldn't enjoy New York, Buenos Aires or Tokyo, let alone Manila, Lagos or Mumbai.

This. I've lived in London all my life yet there are parts of it I've only experienced recently or not at all. Even within various towns in London you get 'the good part' and 'the bad part' so London can't be tarred with one brush. Would be like me saying Birmingham is a 5hithole based on the 2-3 miles I've visited

I have lived in Liverpool, Manchester, Winchester, Bournemouth, Southampton & London and I have been to most of the big cities in the UK and I have set up home in London and will be here for a long time.
You do see crime here but I saw way more crime in Manchester. I feel a hell of a lot safer in London than I did up there.
