Last night

What I saw in the second half yesterday was something very reminiscent of the end of last season, basically punting the ball forward to Fellaini and hoping for the best. If that's a sign of things to come this season I doubt Jose will even last Christmas.

What's also frustrating is for a team with a few giants that we can't even win headers properly ffs

Might be a controversial opinion but I think there's more to this Madrid side than Pep's Barca.

I think this Madrid team can beat you in a football match but also have a plan B, in terms of going longer, set pieces etc, which can get them over the line as well.

I agree, the Barca team, though great, could overdo it a bit with the possession.

Real have the perfect balance of possession, power, skill and style. With various ways to get at a team. The options they have are sickening Marcello is as good as any winger in the world!

the fact that he was on the bench should be clear evidence that it is not a sign of things to come.

We did more than just punt the ball to Fellaini.
Rashford and Mhiki for example became far more expressive when the changes were made.
We also kept the ball reasonably well too.

Fellaini himself was good with the ball too... such a lazy assumption

We have poor set piece takers, had numerous good opportunities from wide free kicks last night but all of them were overhit for a goal kick or headed out by the first Madrid defender.

Fellaini was OK last night to be fair.

His introduction allowed us to get the ball in to our forward players a bit better. Something our starting midfielders (well the two most forward in Herrera and Pogba) failed to do.

Is this the way I want us to go all season? No, of course not but we won't be up against the quality of Real every week either.

Hopefully Jose will have learnt something from last night and will incorporate that into our leage performances.

Not sure why we focus so much on taking our chances. If Madrid had taken theirs the result would have been even more embarrassing. 6-3.

Don't get the obsession of fans to keep saying after games "if we had taken our chances" whilst ignoring how many chances the other team shud have taken.

Fact of matter is Real are light years ahead, and that's pretty poor considering we spent about £500m odd now.

Arab is a serial moaner, we coukd have won 5-0 last night and he would put a negative spin on it.

There was more than punting the ball to fellaini in the second half.

There was sone decent play at times, more noticeabley when we changed the formation and mhki got into the game more.
At two nil down heads didnt drop and the teams fitness level seemed very good which is a positive.

Thought matic did ok, his distribution with the ball is underrated too.

Although a win would have been nice people nned to see it as what it was, a glammed up friendly.

Fergie said himself he didnt count the charity shield or supercup as major trophies as they're one off games.

People need to stop banging on about 500 million.
Yes weve spent it, but most of it was spent poorly by the previous gaffer and half have already been sold on.

Yea, it has surprised me... He played liked that at Benfica, but rarely at Chelsea, even in his good seasons. Maybe Jose is giving him more licence to play the ball... Even his crossing was good.

The chance Pogba missed when we were 3 on 2 was dreadful decision making on his behalf, Lukaku's first effort was terrible really and Rashfford's chance wasn't a bad effort, more good goalkeeping really

On another note, that Casemiro gets about the pitch doesn't he?

Few tactical tweaks and we are close, R. Madrid was very good on the day, we were average..

Imo we're closer than you state, last night match could have been 2-2 also.

Closer in terms of a result, yea... That is down to a tactically strong manager.

In terms of a balanced, settled team full of top players... We are several levels down.

Wait until we play them in the CL and they have Ronaldo starting. Real Madrid are on another level to us.
