One piece of bad luck can knock you out of the CL. Even in their 3 CL wins they've rode their luck st various times.

What is Shearer going on about... he is basically saying unless a player wins the league, they shouldn't be asking for what they're worth on the market or close to it.

Good for spurs if they have a 60k a week cap on their players... but if similar level players are getting 120k a week, don't be surprised when they all want to leave.

Shearer is bang on the money with Spurs players. They've all just signed new contracts (bar Toby) so they now need to deliver and quit whinging.

No. He said unless they have won the league, they shouldn't dare ask for more money.

He then said as soon as they do win the league, they should all be banging on the door demanding improved contracts.

I guess Gerrard should have been earning 20k a week his whole career because he never won the league.

If the rumours are true, Shearer had a 'match the highest wage' clause in 1 or 2 of his Newcastle deals so he's a fine one to talk.
