City have been buying the Refs for a few years now,
+++

Just like United have been stealing your best players
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We've had the best of Sanchez - some nice memories, but he can jog on now. His sprinting is more like a jog at his age now anyway.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

5 weeks older than Mkhitarian. You might not be getting the best of him either. And he's a downgrade.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would have let Sanchez go for nothing this window because his ego has been hanging over the team like a dark cloud.

That we are getting a decent player in exchange is fine with me. Also, on this seasons form, hardly a downgrade, Sanchez has been fakkin awful.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Mkhitaryan has been nothing short of a facking amateur in recent appearances. Massively lacking in confidence. Knocking simple 5 yard passes straight out off play time and again.

Maybe the change of clubs will lead to a change of fortune for both players. Mkhitaryan getting to play regularly with less pressure on him, Sanchez getting to play for a team of the stature he believes is fitting for him.

'Stature', historically - sure.

'Stature', present day - he would have gone to City.

They wouldn't pay him enough, he's chosen the club that will pay him the most which is quintessentially the club that is most willing to stroke his ego.

That sounds like a bad omen to me. If he was serious about winning things he wouldn't have given a toss about a lower wage at City, it would have still been a pay-rise vs his Arsenal salary.

They'd pay him enough - they agreed it in the summer, but Arsenal reneged - the problem was City probably not having enough funds available now to sign both Sanchez and a defensive player as well.

Guardiola said it was because they couldn't afford the wages he wanted...

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yet they couldn't even agree a fee with Arsenal, which comes before agreeing terms with the player.

They probably couldn't afford the fee and the wages together for Sanchez, and another defensive player on top as well.

Sanchez is coming to United to play football and challenge for trophies.

Actually rarely the case. This is life, not football manager.

Tell yourself whatever makes you feel better. He's cashing in, if he was moving for footballing reasons / to win stuff he's be joining City.

Of course he's cashing in, he'd be cashing in wherever he'd gone.

Mkhi is cashing in. He's not going to the Emirates against his wishes after taking a pay cut is he?

Sanchez is a mercenary whatever way you want to spin it, had say PSG offered more than United, he would have gone there.

Again we find ourselves in a must win situation because our main rivals keep winning.

I'd say sanchez is going to party like mad and end up like a whale within 6 months.

He's now made for life.

We all thought he wanted to link up with the greatest coach he ever played under again but no.. it was all about the money.

Arsenal did ok in the end if they got mkhitaryan for nothing out of it. If he's used right he will do well at arsenal... much better than the mess mourinho made of it.

He's a footballer, a young man, and a product of the modern world, which puts in the minds of people the importance of monetary wealth above all else.

So yes; of course he's a mercenary. The vast majority of the people on the surface of the planet are.
