Not desperate, you have just been having a shocker on ja606 of late. As if someone has hit your head about a week and a half ago and your views have gone from being good to Robbie Savage-esque.

Bit of both I suspect.
We're doing okay though without some of our best players. I fully expect us to beat Palace and Hoffenheim.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm a big fan of Can and think he will be a class act but think he needs to be part of a disciplined 'Double-pivot' like you see when he plays for Germany (was insanely good this summer).

From the poster who just said putting Gueye and Scheiderlin into the Liverpool team would improve them more than Kompany and Thiago Silva at their peaks.
I'll take that with the pinch of salt it clearly deserves

I didn't say that, did I?
Lack of understanding of basic English aside, you put Wanyama & Dembele, or Kante & Bakayoko, or Gueye & Schneiderlin into that Liverpool side and the defense improves way more than if you chuck in VVD & Alderweirled.
The defence is so constantly exposed that even Peak Kompany and Thiago Silva would struggle.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay VVD and Alderweireld, as if that makes the point any less valid.
The midfield changing does not stop constant individual mistakes by certain defenders, though yes our midfield does need improving aswell

If you had signed Nabil Keita (assuming he is as good as reports say) I think you will find your team exponentially better than if you signed VVD.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Listening to people who have seen Keita play, he appears to be a combination of MF general (Gerrard), CDM (Mascherano) and AM (Coutinho) and if he is all those things then would be worth any amount of money.
I really think Liverpool should go back in Jan and put our best offer on the table. Say to RB Leipzig, 'Sell him to us now & we'll loan him back to you for the rest of the season'.
I think that is the only way we'll get him next year. Even that might not work as BM, RM, PSG & Barca will probably try the same thing if he has another good season.
Actually, if he is any 2 of those he's still worth getting at any cost.
Henderson isn't a great attacking midfielder nor his he a great defensive midfielder.
He occupies that part of the pitch and keeps it simple but he's not good enough to play that role for Liverpool FC.
We can do better.

It hugely reduces it. Look at individual errors made for any defender under a defensive manager & attacking manager and its undeniable. Kompany made heaps under Pellegrini but basically none under Mancini. Verts made heaps under Sherwood but basically none under Poch. Lovren has made heaps under Klopp but basically none under Koeman.

Possibly but we don't have better at this moment in time.
Henderson and Can rarely play well together. Personally I think it should be one or the other with Wij and an AM, even if that AM is inexperienced (Grujic or even Woodburn).
We've opted for an experienced team to begin with. Worked against Hoffenheim, didn't against Watford.
We need a new team to be honest.
We are terrible.

I think you lack midfielders to suit your system and it is considerably the weakest part of your side. Hendo is the one who suits it most out of your midfielders but even he lacks consistency, your midfield, not your defence, is why you will struggle for top 4 again this year.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lallana is perfect for the system, his pressing from the front is sorely missed when he's injured (an increasing issue unfortunately). Henderson is fine as long as he keeps it simple.
Unlike some of my other fans, I think Keita was due to replace Wij rather than Henderson.

Yeah Lallana is very good, takes a lot of touches and is great in possession. You are definitely a team that is better at defending with the ball so he is perfect for that.
I really don't rate Winjaldum for that reason, high output in terms of goals & assists but cannot dictate tempo and possession which is critical in a Klopp team.

Wij is one of those players that is actually very good when the team is doing well but when they're finding it tough, he struggles. He's very much a barometer for the team!
I wasn't expecting much when he joined but he really surprised me to start with (team was playing well) but his form fluctuated.
I guess you could argue that when he plays well, the team play well but I don't see it that way. I think he fits into the pattern of a game rather than changes/influences it.
Edin is spot on here. Liverpool's midfield isn't top 4 quality. It neither protects the defence well, nor is filled with gifted passers. All very workmanlike
So the goal keeper is awful, the defence naff, midfield ain't top four quality but we finished 4th.
Some of you lads really know your stuff.
Unlike some of my other fans, I think Keita was due to replace Wij rather than Henderson
=============
Absolutely
Liverpool came 4th without any European football. That's a big advantage
Sure. Some teams playing an extra 6 games in the first 5 months really was a game changer. Don't think we lost against the top six either actually even with those awful players playing ten less games over ten months.
Good post again.
Ok be defensive for no reason. Even Cesc Fabregas said recently the advantage of playing once a week was massive for Chelsea last season. The team who won the title on the back of no European football
I don't think your defence is naff btw, your front four is extremely strong which can be enough to push you over the line in itself. Barcelona won a treble with a weak midfield recently thanks to MSN.
It's so much overplayed it's becoming a lazy cliché.
Still Spurs will have a massive advantage over us in the league over the next two weeks. Huge.
Busquets, Rakitic, Iniesta was hardly a weak midfield 2-3 years ago
