Commented on my 1st 2 today. Was bored. Sorry didn't realize it was Arsenal only. My only point was that if the arsenal board have proved anything over the past few years then its that the club is a business & profitability is a priority. I could see City doing something like this & letting the contract run down. If PSG or City offered 50mln+ I'd be stunned if they reject it

But irrespective to what the board or Arsene think/do, I want to get an idea of what people would and think is right.
Personally, I would sell if a bid of £50+ came in.

Well I am going to the T20 match between Kent and Surrey, so I will probably have a few beers before hand then go to that, then have a few more beers.
Arsenal will turn it down.
If Kroenke says sell he'll be sold. Best part of 100m leaving for nowt with ox and wilshire included is not worth the hit.
Sanchez doesn't seem to be causing problems so this is a financial issue basically. If Arsenal are prepared to take a bath on £50m then keep him. He's a great player.
Irrespective of head being turned I wanted to keep Coutinho up until he handed in a transfer request. After that, he's gone as far as I'm concerned. Sanchez hasn't done anything like that so why would any Arsenal fan want to see a great player walk out the door?!

Because he will most likely walk out the door in less than a year, for nothing.
I would have been in favour of keeping him and taking the financial hit had we had a strong enough team to win the league, as he would make the difference.
You pay for a four year contract, so if the player leaves after four years for free there is no hit, you're just not making a profit.
All a transfer fee does is buy a player out of their existing contract.
I have no problem with it.

To use a term regularly thrown around on here, you can't put £50m on the pitch.
If he goes then Arsenal are extremely unlikely to sign a replacement as good. Not with 2 weeks of the window to go. Players of Sanchez's quality are rare.
Put him on the pitch for a year, plan for his departure. Arsenal are a rich club and you'd imagine any money lost would be somewhat offset by increased performance over the season by keeping the player.

Non-biased and fair response.
I think Coutiniho will go eventually purely on the basis of his transfer request which gives Liverpool a free pass as any fan fury at his sale will be directed at the player rather than the board.
Sanchez is different and his sale at this stage after all of Wenger's denials would look really bad to fans who are already baying for the Manager's blood.
Issue I have with Coutiniho's sale is it would provide Liverpool with around 100m to put in a massive bid for Sanchez which would appease any dissenting fans. Turning down say 70m would be difficult for Kroneke to accept despite the impact it would have on Wenger and the fanbase
Pros for selling Alexis - we get a transfer fee (and as far as I am aware no-one has actually made a bid, let alone a £50m bid. I would predict if we did sell him the money we received would be closer to £30-£35m)
Gives us a small amount of control over where he went.
Cons - Makes our squad weaker. Makes our chances of qualifying for the CL less. Little chance of replacing him. Makes Wenger look very weak. Makes Arsenal look very weak. Potential signings would be put off. Potential sponsors would be put off. Fan unrest would continue to grow. Would probably strengthen a rival. And so on and so on.
If we sold him at the very start of the window there would be a little common sense to it. Now there is no justification for selling him.

All very sensible and hard to disagree with. However I just have a feeling that as we get closer to the end of the window and clubs get more desperate we may well get an offer that is way above the early sums quoted for Sanchez.
Will the board be able to turn down 60-70m for him? Especially if it enables us to finally buy someone like Lemar who could be seen as a younger replacement? I hope we do but our board are not exactly renowned for putting the team above finance.
This Sanchez saga is the model of how not to do things:
1 - let the player enter the last year of his contract;
2 - Hope beyond hope he'll accept a new deal, but do not cave in to his wage demands
3 - (2) leaves the club in a position where they plan for life with AS when they should really be planning for life without him.
4 - (3) forces the club in a position where they have to keep him regardless of whether he signs a new deal, potentially losing 10s of millions.
5 - the whole situation is toxic and who knows if keeping him isnt going to get messy as the season progresses.
A decision should have been made early summer, a deadline to agree a contract, beyond which actively look to sell and have options toreplace him. Now its too late, if you sold a replacement would be hard to get in. If you keep it costs the clubs 10s of millions.
But the key thing here is whether having Sanchez for 1 more season and the success having him may bring outweighs the lost transfer fee.
Personally I think turning down 35m for a player like Sanchez who would cost 80m to replace is sensible but a figure of say 60-70m may make our board reconsider despite the implications a late sale would have.
