Fight of the year in the making here I think, Lomachenko vs Rigondeax might match it for the purists though.

Canelo has looked sharp in his last few fights, will be a cracking night of boxing

Biggest fight of the year for the purists.

Absolutely fascinating match up.

I wouldn't say this was just a purist fight.

I'm a bit of a casual fan, only tend to watch big fights, and I'll definitely be buying this one.

Fascinating match up. I love watching fights when you genuinely have no idea who will come out on top. Is there even a favourite here? GGG is with the bookies but if I was absolutely forced to go for a winner I'd punt on Canelo. Real 50-50 one.

I'm not a purist either, I tend to follow heavyweight and middleweight closely.

Can

I didn't say it was only for the purists, I merely stated that it is the biggest one FOR the purists of the sport.

This fight is up there with Thurman vs Garcia, Ward vs Kovalev in terms of competitiveness. Undoubtedly a 50/50 with so many variables to consider.

Is GGG too old?
Does Canelo's style negate Golovkin's threat?
Can Canelo take Golovin's power?
Can Golovkin's chin hold up against Canelo?
Will Canelo's speed be the difference?
Will Golovkin's work rate be too much for Canelo?
Can Canelo work around the Golovkin Jab?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

My bad, misinterpreted what you meant by a fight for the purists.

I think (although not with any real confidence) that Canelo will be able to take GGG's power. Simply because his defence is pretty good, I doubt he'll be caught cleanly very often. Whether he can take accumulation of power shots over 12 rounds is another question.

Canelo's handspeed is interesting to me, how he deploys it I mean. GGG is used to people getting on their bike in the ring and he cuts them off as well as anyone. If Canelo doesn't do that, trusts his defence and stands his ground then his handspeed really comes into it's own I think. He also loves an uppercut and Brook landed on GGG with that shot.

But can he keep that up for 12 rounds or will Golovkin's number and weight of shot finally wear him down. I genuinely have no idea!

Loma vs Rigo is the ultimate purists dream. I don't think that fight happens though.

Rumours are that this will be his next fight or it will be a rematch against Salido, If he did fight Rigo though no idea what weight it would be matched at...I know which one I would prefer

I cannot wait for his fight. There's no way that it can't be a good fight.

These two have sparred each other a couple of times before, supposedly Golovkin got the better of him. Canelo was only 20 at the time though.

Also in nearly 400 fights including amateur fights GGG has never been floored once, which is fecking ridiculous quite frankly.

i think canelo has a decent chance tbh

he has the power and strength to not be pushed around by GGG, and i believe he has the superior boxing skills

can't wait for this fight
