how the fk does Livermore keep getting called up.
Him and Southgate enjoy a sneaky line when the rest of the lads go to sleep
Very well deserved, very good player. I'd like to see him and Jones at CB.
Albrighton should feel unlucky.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Absence of quality midfielders who would do well in a midfield 2.
You're right TB - Stevie Whitworth definitely picked up a cap or two.
Surely Steve Walsh must be one of the best Central Defenders not to have been capped?
Inbefore - Advise another defensive midfielder. I can't say I'm particularly happy about it either.
As for Maguire, it's great for him although I wonder whether it's just a little too soon. Even so, it'll be interesting to see how his surprising calmness on the ball translates to wearing an England shirt. And of course the fact that he'll naturally be further up the pitch and leaving space behind him, something he hasn't had to deal with at Hull and now at Leicester.
Disappointing to see Hart still get in the squad, even when we seem to have some good goalkeeping options and after being frankly terrible for the past year. I thought it was only 3 selections for the GK anyway? Have they opened it up to 4 just for Hart?
how does facking sturridge get in the squad ffs
englands midfield options are appalling
and most of the other positions tbh

Yeah should have been dropped ages ago. and idk why theres a need for 4 either. Pickford Heaton and Butland have been performing on a way higher level then him.
Pickford > Heaton > Butland would be my 3 in order, maybe bit harsh on Heaton but hes the eldest out of them and i'd back Pickford over Butland for the long term No.1 for us.
Sturridge getting in im not hyped, bit disappointing he'll probably get injured with them again too. But you can see why you'd have him in your squad lets not kid ourselves on that one Phenom.

Hart would be 6th choice at the moment, coming as well behind Foster (who's actually been in good form) and Forster.
Can see why Sturridge is getting in. I mean who are our other good options after Rashford, Kane and Vardy? It's why Defoe is still making the squad.
Carroll Berahino Crouch but in all seriousness after their success why aren't Solanke, Lookman and Calvert-Lewin etc getting a chance? Abraham
if just to get them integrated ? i mean theres players on there that won't even get a game anyway.
I'll get my thinking cap on-Graham Cross was U-23.
At this stage we may as well keep the talented youngsters to one side and let them develop with each other in the U21 side or whatever, unless any of them go on to be so good they simply can't be ignored.
At the end of the day you've got Kane who is a certain first choice and then Vardy and Rashford who would be the second choice. Anyone else is just filler.
Hart FFS, talk about jobs for the boys!
They are almost as bad as politicians for pi55ing down the same straw.
I wonder if they all form a circle in the dressing room?
England are woeful currently. Since our "golden generation" did nothing, we've quite right been knocked out of tournaments early.
Southgate should be given years to correct this. I like the way he's come in and looked at an "English" way of playing leveraging pace that we have in abundance (just ability we lack).
But I think it will be years before we have an England team anywhere near tournament contenders.
On the goalkeeper debate. Butland is by far the most talented, but he's not got back to his best since his injury. On current form, I can't see past Pickford. Butland for me should be the short term solution though.
I assume this initial list of 29 players will be reduced? There are currently 6 centre backs in the squad as well, so I can't imagine all of those will be included.
Merseyside - I can't remember us putting in a decent performance under Southgate yet and, while I think he's a decent bloke, I don't think he's really management material. That said, he has other skills that might be suitable for an England manager right now, in an era when the best we can hope for is qualification and maintenance of a high ranking within UEFA. (Which, you have to say, has been managed very well over recent years.)
We've got a lot of talent in the England youth squads; they had such good summer tournaments.
What these players need to do is get regular, top flight first team football.
If I were them, I'd look to get loan moves to Serie A, Eerdevisie, or La Liga clubs or even permanent moves if they cannot break into their host team squad or even get regular game time being loaned out at another Premier League club.
Once they've got a couple of seasons under their belt I'd love to see Calvert-Lewin, Solanke, Walker-Peters etc. in the senior side.
Hopefully some English players will have good seasons ready for the World Cup and make the squad look stronger than it is, but it's hard to see it's going to improve that much in less than a year's time.
Please for Harry to get the call. Fully deserved.
Think Albrighton deserves to get a call up too. Certainly playing well enough for a long time now and better than some of the carp that has been selected.
