I remember the Spanish press always did the same - talking about how unlucky Spain were and how great they were against the small teams. I remember Spain losing to Cyprus at home! But when the press and public stopped overrating them, they got better. The English press have no idea!

Dele Alli 7, Henderson 8 and Kane 9 and Bertrand 8 are the ones that stick out. Ridiculous.

I know. Talk about picking favourites. How do Alli and Henderson qualify for more than 5? And Kane and Bertrand, max 6. Team was awful.
Didn't watch the game, didn't see the point. We play teams like Malta, Slovenia, Ukraine, not the worst teams in the world, but not great either, play drab, boring football, win, but sh*t ourselves at tournaments.
I just don't see the point in watching England in the quals anymore, unless we draw one of the other home nations, which makes it slightly more interesting.
Two DM's against Malta ffs

Henderson was congratulated for his shouting skills.

Sorry I got it wrong Peks but I don't follow Spain. But I do remember the press always said they were better than they were.
With Horrenderson at the helm, England will be having long summer breaks.

I agree the lack of hype going into Germany'08 probably eased the pressure.
I remember one of the sports rags before our ko tie vs France in '06 leading with a full page PIC of Zizou, and the headline "Today is the day you retire"
