The big difference is defenders aren't allowed to defend anymore, what was deemed a good challenge 10-15 yrs ago is outlawed now, as soon as there is any contact in the box the attacker is now apparently obliged to go down, it's ruined the art of defending
The shot Lukaku missed and scored the rebound was a brilliant save from Butland. Lukaku went the opposite side to where the GK had already dived and Butland saved it despite his momentum going the other way with a strong outstretched arm.
It's going to take Morata a while to find top form as he has hardly played for a year. He's always a back up player. It's also a new league and a very physical one. But he has surprised me at how good he is in the air.

No the biggest difference is that there are far more foreign players in the league which means English players that would have formerly been top flight players no longer are. Therefore the quality has increased
Probably goes hand in hand with my comment
"Disagree 100%, if anything the quality of players in general has improved, making it harder for players to really stand out like they could 15 years ago when the prem was just 90% charlie adams"
Well that is just BS and straight up nonsense.
I was speaking on a general term.
Ok. So you think the Top 4 from now can hang with the top 4 from the 07-08 season?
That ridiculously overpowered Man U side with Ronaldo, Tevez, Rooney, etc for one?
What about that that very good Arsenal side which bottled it?
Chelsea were extremely strong as well.
Not to mention Liverpool a year later or so with Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano, Torres, etc?
There is a reason why things are competitive now between all the teams in the Prem. And that is down to the top teams going downhill.
Leicester winning the league shows how pathetic the Prem is in terms of quality.
As for football as a whole. All the players are just athletes nowadays. No real quality about.
For example, are there any special CBs about nowadays? The last really good one I seen was Thiago Silva a few years ago.
While backaday you the likes of Thuram, Nesta, Cannavarro, etc.
Talent was stacked.

I mean goals wise he is on a top run of form. Its like 14 in his last 16 i believe. 3 goals 2 assists in 4 i would consider hitting the ground running

It's a fair argument to say that the top 4 10 years ago were better than the top 4/6 nowadays
But overall the quality of player in the PL has risen throughout the years undoubtedly. In the 90s it was filled with English players who would be championship and league one players nowadays. As more foreign talents came the quality increased. Only nostalgia would tell you otherwise. You wouldn't get Renato Sanchez, Shaqiri, Payet or Llorente calibre players throughout mid table and relegation sides back then
The original comment that Lukaku, Kane and Morata would be mid table strikers 10 years ago was stupid.
Problem when discussing strikers is people pick what they want to justify an argument whilst ignoring the obvious
Example from yesterday. Lukaku puts ball over bar and we got the whole Kane scored similar. But if you watched both games you will see that kane actually totally messed up similar too in the first half hour
That isn't a sleight on Kane who is good player IMO but rather to show that things get shown up to be something that they aren't. Another player also messed up similar but lukaku became the focus.

Youve conveniently left out the golden boot winner for the last two seasons in this comparison
Lacazette sadly isn't in Harry, Morata or Lukakus class
Lacazette is in the same bracket as Rondon and Shane Long

United fan sadly!
Deluded to the bone!
The best striker in the premiership is the one whose been top scorer for the last two years!
Kane scores and has all round contributions. Lukaku is one trick pony!
We'll see how many more Morata scores after the Xmas period!
