Stay where you are it's a kip.
if you cant have a good time in London you cant have a good time anywhere...worlds best city.
If you get a chance, go on the central line to Stratford and go see the Olympic Park. If a sunny day it's quite nice around there. I lived in Stratford for years before the development when it was basically awful. Now it's a lot better. Westfield there ain't bad either.

Not strictly true.
Funnily enough, Ive been to Copenhagen, which is a far nicer and much friendlier place than London.
Probably best staying at home.

London is one of the most visited places in the world. It has many outstanding places of interest and steeped in history. Unfortunately you may come across a few low life's like jlou who are down here to beg on street corners or pick your pocket. His pastimes include looking into dustbins for something to eat, find a dead cat and he thinks it's a treat....so legend tells us.
I'd suggest from Paddington a stroll south through Hyde Park then head through Green Park past Buckingham Palace along The Mall to Trafalgar Square right down Whitehall past Downing Street, Westminster Abbey and Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. Then cross Westminster Bridge and ride The London Eye. Along the south bank there are many eateries and also some good street entertainers. All these places are close to each other and walkable.
I love my home town
We've normally stayed north of the river, last time we stayed at the Premier in at County Hall on the south bank, the London eye is basically outside, as is the London Dungeon having moved from London Bridge, we walked right along the south bank to Borough Market last time there, London is a great place to visit, can imagine it being damn expensive to live though
I love my home town

So you should.
Day pass is worth about 5.50 pounds on the tube.As for oneday's expenses you will need about 25 pounds for two people's food and 50 pounds per day if you need to stay in a hotel.

This was exactly what I was going to suggest. A walk through the parks and royal London is always nice if the weather is acceptable. I love St. James' Park and if you take some peanuts your son can feed the squirrels. Then through Horse Guards Parade where he can see the queens guards on horses. It's next to Whitehall and Downing Street and you can then walk past Big Ben, Houses of Parliament. You've got the Thames there and the London Eye. Then up to Trafalgar Square. Covent Garden is about 15 minutes walk away. Walking is the best way to find the charm of the city.

To be honest, it really depends on what kind of things you want to do, and what kind of atmosphere you enjoy. It's all relative, I would probably say I prefer to Copenhagen to London too. Hell I prefer many cities to London.
I live in Richmond, and I personally find the place to be pretty bland along with being pricey. Being one of the most visited cities doesn't prove anything really for me. I lived in Helsinki for a while, and personally, even being pretty pricey I found the place to be much more enjoyable to live in.
