Removing Ramsey from the team would be a massive step in the right direction.

Blah blah blah...

We haven't protected the back four for years.
Weirdly its a philosophy that got us the goals to qualify for the CL for 20 years.

Ask yourself where we would have ended up if we'd swapped a Cazorla or Ramsey for a Matic?
Less goals conceded, less goals scored.

As for goals today - this a team as far as attacking is concerned that is reliant upon Sanchez.

Lets wait until Sanchez, Ozil and Lacazette fail to deliver as an attacking trio before we give up.
Interestingly they have yet to play a single minute together so far this season.

Cazorla has, in the main, always combined creativity with discipline when played centrally, whereas Ramsey shows little of either.

Additionally, we shouldn't forget the old adage of title winning teams being built on their defence...

Better balance in midfield = better defence, better attack as far as I'm concerned. The current mess of a MF won't even get us CL.

Watch closely how Steve Nzonzi kept Liverpool yes the same team we couldn't even get a single shot at bay whole game earning his team vital draw and tell me our dinosaur manager is not hindering the club I want anyone to dare say we aren't regressing and badly require suggery by retiring the old spoof.

Scared of watching Arsenal against bigger teams it's humiliating tbh.

I don't think any novelty has worn off with the new formation. Its just that better managers have found holes to exploit. Arsenal don't have a sitting midfield player like Spurs, Chelsea and now even City do. What annoys me is that for 5 years most of us have wanted a better striker to put away the chances we were creating. Now we finally have that man, Wenger has decided to play one more defender in exchange for an attacker which obviously limits the number of chances we create. We looked hopeless as a goal threat against Stoke and Liverpool.

The switch to a back 3 was always against Wenger's natural instinct. Trouble is the formation isn't the problem, Neither is, to some extent, the personal. The problem has always been our lack of collective defensive organisation.

Doesn't realty matter whether you go from 4-3-3 to a 3-5-2 to a 5-3-2, if your team lacks defensive discipline, you're always will struggle against the top oppositions.

Maybe Jamie could use his wisdom to sorting out liverpools back four before spouting off about other teams 👍

Don't agree with this.

Wenger also won the league, going unbeaten, with two players, Vieira and Gilberto sitting in front of a back 4. That team was very good defensively. There was no collective problems with that team.

So obviously formation and personnel to make it work is the problem.

I dont agree with a lot of this. We have pretty much always had a defensively minded CM, if not an out and out DM a lot of the time. Coq, Eleneny, Flamini, Song to name a few win recent years. Even Wilshere and Ramsey have done the job in the past

Thats why I keep going on about Xhaka, he doesnt put the effort in to make a difference as the deep lying midfielder and leaves the defence exposed. Thats why it was such a problem last year in a 4-2-3-1 and its why it is still a problem in a 3-4-3. All the time he is in midfield we will have a weak player who can be exploited by the more shrewd opposition who can see his weaknesses. Moving Ramsey back will still leave a weak midfielder who can be exploited. I think he's so bad I would even consider an exchange for facking Denilson.

Which is why I believe we need to be testing Maitland-Niles in the position. To play alongside Xhaka against top teams and Jeff Adelaide against teams that come to defend. There is no point going back to Coq/Eleneny who are not good enough.

People forget how young Vieira was when he first broke into the team.

We will soon be able to judge if they can develop or not. If we don't see potential then we can go and buy a player to play alongside Xhaka in Jan.
