“It will be a peaceful and professional protest".

Professional protesting eh?............how do you get that type of job?

well i don't know what to make of it, i think its only going to have a detrimental effect on the team and management ahead of the game on saturday .. as poor as kean has been .. im really starting to feel for him not as a manager but as a human being this guy has taken more cr4p from fans than probably any manager has ever had to deal with in probably the entirity of football, im sure as a person he is great bloke, but as a manager he is way out of his depth, but he doesnt deserve the awful treatment he is receiving i hope we do replace him soon, but this is going to probably ruin his career he will more than likely never get a chance to start over at any team agaiun if he gets sacked now

but yes in the grander scale, i would love to see kean go and hughes back in, doesnt mean i don;t feel bad for poor steve !!

I don't believe that it was Kean who missed TWO penalties a couple of weeks ago against Everton?

Maybe these two teams could trade managers for the rest of the season to see the positive impact, if any, on the field!

If I was inclined to do a bit of WUManising I'd put the blame on your very own Mr. Wenger for starting the long chain of events that led to it.

1. Bolton beat Arsenal 3 times in a row at home from 2004-07
2. Wenger blames this on bullying and long-ball tactics.
3. London media are all over it like a rash.
4. After being force fed the message for years, fans across the country begin to repeat it.
5. Venkys become aware of this tag via fans/media after buying the club.
6. Venkys decide they want "better football" and sack Sam.

Long and short is it was a diabolical decision based on style issues, too late now though

i think the protest is wrong, lets just get behind him for now, if someone else comes in they will be working with kean's players anyway.

A cheap shot attempting to derail the protest

The protest is pointless and could affect the team on the day.

It is also not entirely fair given our very tough fixture list, especially home games.

We should have beaten Wolves but had no first choice central defenders fit.

Villa (away)
Everton (home)
Fulham (away)
Arsenal (home)

next home games:

Man City, Spurs, Chelsea

No excuse me for pointing out the obvious, even our beloved Samuel would struggle to see many, if any, points from those fixtures.

I'm sure the beloved amazing Godly sexual Tyrannosaur cyborg Samuel would have more than a point, but there's no need to even mention the previous manager. Defensive injuries or not, did we create that much in an attacking sense against one of the weaker teams in the league at home with our new found attacking mentality? Besides, I doubt it's just about the results this season my friend.

We were actually the better side for most of the game against Wolves, it was actually the defensive frailties that left us exposed, conceding 2 soft goals.

1 point from Villa and Fulham away actually isn't that bad a return.

Everton game we played very well, the responsibility rests solely on Formica and Hoilett for missing from 12 yards.

Even if we had Hughes back in chage, (which I would love), we could comfortably lose the next 4 homes games, most teams outside the top 5 or 6 would.

I'm not excusing anything, just putting some real perspective on the fixtures at hand.

Probably the most important fixtures in this difficult patch will be Norwich and QPR away.

I understand your point McT but if we end up with 5 maybe 6 points (optimistic at the mo) from our first 8 or 10 games then frankly we're stuffed!

It's all very well looking at them and thinking 'that isn't easy' - few of them are. If you flip it on it's head, we won't have played any of last years top six away either.

It's established I don't like Kean and almost in fairness to him he may as well go now. The games he'll be given to save his job aren't easy, and if he's fired in a month it'll give a new man even less time!

Oh I totally agree, I sort of feel slightly torn myself. I think the biggest issue really was losing to Wolves, had we had Samba, Nelsen, Givet and Dann available I think we would have won having deservedly taken the lead. And Everton were dire, making it all the more worse that we lost. Injuries and bad luck do begin to wear thin when we simply need a win though.

In my head I'd penciled in 4 points from Wolves and Everton and 1-2 at absolute best from Villa and Fulham, which is a fair assumption for a Rovers fan.

We are bottom and have a horrific fixture list coming up, so may well end up in the brown stuff. Who knows what will happen. Again just being realistic, I don't think Venky's will sack him easily, they've allowed him to spend the thick end of 25m and still openly support him, personally I don't think he will get sacked for a while.

posted on 15/9/11

I really wish I could be behind him, I'm not slating him because I enjoy being part of a mob, so many of the things he does are things that really irk me. As previously mentioned on other threads, I supported Kidd and Ince until their respective positions became untenable. Because his personality traits compound his managerial abilities, I'd prefer another manager rather than drag this out. Not that Venky's will sack him. Eitherway, I don't think the players will let it affect them or at least it shouldn't, I think we've got a pretty good group as far as attitude is concerned.

posted on 15/9/11

Absolutely, I appealed for calm when Ince was getting slated. As said on numerous (millions) threads now, there is nowhere that the line can be drawn and his record looks good.

As said, it doesn't help when he still talks of top half when us fans would be happy with top half of bottom 3 at the moment.

When?

It is a bit of a pertinent question though. Are we pretending to see progress? Are those that feel positive pointing to the odd flash of decent football (Rochi's goal) but aware we're in trouble?

I don't think a change in manager would provide a change in fortune overnight, everybody needs time. In my eyes, Kean's had some and we've got worse. If we wait then the new man may well find it's too late.

May as well get the fight, spirit and methods in place during this tough home run...

posted on 16/9/11

McTeeth, newsflash for you... we're in the premier league, our fixtures are never going to be Morecambe away, Doncaster home, Northampton away, Mansfield home! But it's nice that you're willing to wait until some easier fixtures before you judge Kean.

Those opening 4 games are about as friendly as you could reasonably have hoped for. Injuries on the opening day were an issue, but we'd failed to replace Jones despite having plenty of time so that was partly self inflicted. Villa are average. Everton were missing key players. Fulham are average.

posted on 16/9/11

To be honest I don't really share others urgency for change. We're currently 1 point from safety and the teams above us are picking up points at a rate of 0.5 per game. If Kean was given 5 more games and we lost every one, I think the most we'd be adrift would still only be 4/5 points. At that point we wouldn't even yet be a quarter of the way into the season. Its incredibly early to be panicking.

Maybe, if these poor results weren't so common. No class pun intended.

Hmm, actually when you put it like that it would be pretty horrendous. I'd probably give him the next 4 games then and demand a minumum of 4 points to save his job. Obviously we still wouldn't be in a great position but 4 points from those very tough fixtures would represent improvement and would keep us in touch.

Samba asking fans not to protest. I'd listen to the big man, otherwise he might eat your bones.
