Difficult to defend Stokes once the two guys start backing away. The self defence argument goes out the window at that point.
He got a good shot in at the end though. If the stories about homophobia are true, he probably deserved it. Doesn't condone Stokes' behaviour though.
Is that Hales in the video also? Gets a few sly kicks in whilst one of them is on the floor.
All this over a drunken scrap lol. The guy who he knocked out knew who he was and probably got abit lairy and started a fight but chit himself when Stokes don't back down.
If England drop Stokes the only people missing out will the England as let's face it all the IPL team and other teams around the world will look to snap him up.
I've heard Stokes bat sponsor is thinking of cancelling his 200k a year deal id say fak up. In a few months times they will be lining up for Stokes.
Forget Rio Ferdinand. There is a boxing career for Stokes.

Yes, if you get points for missing your opponent.
The Australian media are loving this as either the ECB look weak or the England team looks weaker depending on the action that is taken against Stokes.
I'm sure he was provoked and in some ways, I have a little sympathy for him, but a man in his position really should've known better.
I get the feeling that Stokes will gett of lightly

one rule for white man another for non white
stokes is an absolute dangerous player on and off the pitch.
I can understand the reason why stokes might have got into a fight after seeing the video,
But the bigger concern I have is how on earth was he allowed to go for night out which seemed to go well past 2 in the morning when he was going to play a match in a days time.
A) he would have clearly struggled to make it to the practice the following day and surely this has some impact on his performance.
If KP was removed because he was not listening/ looking out of the windows during team meetings I reckon what stokes has done here even before considering the fight is a bigger issue than that and deserves the punishment he gets
Seems various players were out late, not just Stokes and Hales (who might also be in real bother). It appears to have been team policy to let them go their own way.

Apparently he was defending two gay guys from
Abuse....... anyway, the point remains that if Stokes had got just one ball in that final over as accurate as that last punch England would have been T20 World Champions

I've just seen the video. Stokes should not go to the Ashes in my opinion. It's a tragedy for him, for the team and most importantly for all the fans that will be watching on TV or who have saved up to watch in Australia.
It's a shame for everyone. But you can't have the England vice-captain going around punching people.
What was he thinking? The night before the Ashes selection and he's out clubbing till 3am? Craziness.
I've lost a lot of respect for Stokes. Everyone deserves a second chance and I think he can come back but I do think he should be punished and not selected for England this winter.
Agreed, I don't have any sympathy for him to be honest. Regardless of making a poor decision to go out on the lash until 2:30am, he could have reacted differently to the bottle attacks. Regardless of what happened prior, you don't need to throw 19 punches or whatever it was in defending others. You then certainly don't need to stalk him when he's backing off and sucker punch him.
He'll play for England again certainly and for him it'll be a 4th or 5th chance. But we may as well try and galvanise and unite the rest of the squad and have a serious think at who replaces Stokes and get them focused on the Ashes.
I have no problem with him going out clubbing. I don't see why sports stars shouldn't be allowed to let their hair down when given time off or why they should be held to different standards to other young people. Particularly when the people judging them probably did exactly the same at their age.
The problem I have is his behaviour during the fight. If it was just the first part of the video, when the guy had a bottle and there was a scuffle; you could ignore it. The fact he throws so many punches and follows them is not needed and he should be banned because of it.
U folks are being too harsh on Stokes. I understand ur views but no one is perfect. It happens sometimes with alcohol and young blood.
I’m sure lot of gangsters here trying to act nice but we know the truth 😜
On a serious note, Stokes can have some punishment but he still deserves to play in Ashes. Time to move on amigos!
Plz don’t get ur panties twisted with my opinion.. 👍
No one is being harsh on Stokes, he has been an idiot and will pay accordingly for his actions. It's a police matter now and the ECB have said they won't pick him until that's resolved which I think is fair.
