Thats interesting, because I have a bit of a tap problem at the moment. The big one on the kitchen sink is a bit loose. Maybe I should check them out.

This is where it is very handy in having a tech savvy 17 year old who knows how to use youtube properly.
He save me a hundred bucks when our washing machine was knackered.

Yeah, it's surprising how often you find the answer, if you learn how to Google it. (you get better with practice).
Plumber would have charged about £80.
I find everything costs £80. Google taught me how to service my lawn mower as well: when I asked how much at the local service shop, it was £80.
But it's more the inconvenience of having a broken tap, while you're negotiating when the plumber can come, and how long you have to stay in until he arrives. The fix, once I looked it up, took about 10 minutes.
The answer isn't always on Mums net, but surprisingly often
PS. YouTube's good as well.
I would recommend a series called EyeHandy.
Some top DIY tips. The videos are well-lit and well-produced, and the DIY demos are all given by young women in their underwear.
Very instructive.

I watched some of those at work because I didn't believe it was such a thing when someone told me.

I will be making sure the boy looks into this EyeHandy.
Or better still, removing him from washing machine fixing duties.

I was particularly impressed with Shannon's plastering skills.
She's a very good plasterer. Taught me how to fix a dent in my plasterboard.
Looks as good as new.

The cold water pipe for our washing machine wasn't supplying any water. Phoned plumber who said it would be a minimum, yes you guessed it, £80 call out fee + whatever it was to fix it. One phone call to the father in law later, he suggested I buy a new valve tap which took me about 15 mins to fix. It cost me about £3!!!
