You have to be impressed by Jose. You dont have to like him.
He has built a team teh right way. Last season spent organising the team, focusing on defence, being hard to beat. It came at a cost of entertainment and goals. But from this base they can now become more expansive. A couple of good buys adding to the quality they had + a bit of youth, and they have a very strong squad who can grind out results to send you to sleep or blow you away.
It kinda shows some other managers in a bad light. Klopp probably being the biggest culprit here. He didnt fix what needed fixing at LFC, he fined tuned the attack. But the old problem keeps re-occuring, and it will probably be the case that to fix it, the attack needs readjustment too. His purchasing strategy seemed to lack any sort of strategy, in contrast to Jose.
I think we will see a different United in the big games and in the 2nd half of the season, but they are well capable of avoiding defeat and turning into an efficient machine to get the job done (reverting to Jose type)
I don't really like the man. He used to be a breath of fresh air now he's just full of a lot of hot air, but I have to admire that he knows how to build a winning team

I guess they're just smarting a bit, suppose it's like a girlfriend dumping them for someone better, whilst they are left with a chimpanzee in a suit

You mean how he got sacked and then finished 6th when we finished 1st? Yeah I see the parallels.

Well of course I'm going to watch big games when I've the chance. I've seen you against Spurs and City this season and attractive football from you it was not.
Not always mind. Most often than not Chelsea play atractive footy. Hazard, Pedro, Willian and Morara are a joy to watch. Whereas you can't say same about Rashford, Mikhy and Lukaku. Rashford playing as a LB and Lindgard as a RB is not exactly exciting is it ?
utd are probably more efficient but yeah we play better football when we're on it.

Silly argument. We don't setup defensively any more often than you.
How often does Rashford play defensively?
About the same amount of times you setup with 3 midfielders, 3 CB's and wing backs with your best CB as one of those wing backs.

You mean once?
Anyway the major difference between the two isn't big game strategy, it's attacking training. Under Conte you can clearly see on the pitch most weeks that he trains attacking moves and patterns of play which is why we cope well without Eden.
Jose basically trains defense well but has basic attacking drills which basically rely on the attackers producing moment's of magic. It's all well and good when they (the attackers) are, but when they ain't his team's are deviod of ideas and barely create any chances atall. It's the big reason he can't do long term, even the best forward's can only get by for so long with basic training.
In 15/16 he had a poor defense for the first time in his career and that truly exposed his lack of attacking nous, as this article explain's.

That not me saying Jose isn't a great manager, but attack training has always been his major weakness.

No, we played Spurs like a kipper and they did the same to Dortmund. Big difference between that and the City game is we had control of it.
Jose lost my respect after the ridiculous debacle over Eva Canerio, and the utter sulking, culminating in his second sacking.....to my mind three months late

Mourinho is the type of manager you only like if he's with your team.
The football is defensive, he's surly when interviewed, makes excuses when not winning and moans a huge amount of the time. Basically, if he's not your manager then there's not much to love.
On the flip side of the coin, we wins. And he wins a lot. So if he's managing your team then you stand an excellent chance of being successful and therefore he's popular.
I suspect many Utd fans didn't like him before he moved there just as many Chelsea fans don't like him now.
