that's about as good anything world football could trot out atm, no need for giroud other than a sub, france man for man are as good as anyone but still cant seem to place my trust in them to win the wc

Personally think Grioud has linked well with Griezmann, but all 3 can play together. Ideally though, I'd have liked to see them integrate Benzema into the set-up instead of Giroud.

That midfield is problematic for them and was the same at the Euros. Just not enough craft or fluidity. Would bring in Rabiot for Matuidi.

they did get to the final which is not a bad thing, I would think another 2 years integrating could maybe push them over the top

They had a few good games - especially the Iceland quarters. But they were thoroughly outplayed and overrun by Germany whose wastefulness cost them eventually.

Mbappe is a once in a generation talent they should take advantage of. On wing or up top, he has a very good case for starting in an already strong French side

I think Giroud will start up front. It isn't his first world cup. He knows the players well, and, for me, offers more as a lone man, with Mbappe, Dembele and Griezmann playing off him.

Having said that, the French attack, similar to the German team, just has a scary amount of depth and some top players floating around there that aren't going to feature.

There is still a long way to go obviously and players can get or lose form (or get injured) but I don't see the point of taking Matuidi, Pogba and Rabiot while also having Kante in the squad.
For me, one of them will have to make room for either Tolisso or Fekir to bring an threat going forward.
Matuidi is the most likely to miss out.

Not sure I agree with it being wrong to play him because he's young as youngsters tend to play with less fear. Although I'm not going to argue with Bobby P.

Sissoko will steal a squad place too

Sissoko and Payet will miss out......hopefully.

Although, today's rumours are that the FFF will extend Deschamps contract until 2020.

Still not sure how Sissoko plays for France. Funniest part is that is a type of player they have in abundance: athletic, midfield powerhouses that can burst through gaps. But they have a lot of better options than him.

But it's funny too that he was pretty much their best-performing midfielder at the Euros.

Why Payet? Payet remains one of the most creative players on the planet easily. Guy has outstanding vision to pick a final ball. But also skilled on the ball and can play directly. For all the hype players like Lemar get, Payet is demonstrably better than they are.

He's the french sigurdsson. Good vision and good at set pieces but not dynamic enough to play with the like of Mbappe or Griezmann.
If Giroud was to be the one leading the line, then maybe.
But If France are planning on play on the counter with tfast transition, then Payet will be pointless in that system,

Olivier Giroud's 28th international goal last night saw him overtake Karim Benzema as France's 7th top scorer in 13 fewer games.

So France really dont need Benzema at all. Think that Mbappe felt the pressure in the qualifier to perform. Not experienced enough.

Griezmann's place shouldnt be cemented at all. For me he hasnt been good for a while now both for his current team and for France as well.

Think as well that France has a midfield problem. Passing and crossing have been absolute disatrous at times. They also have massive problems in defense. Varane makes strange decisions at times and both FB's arent good enough.

To be fair Giroud has been one of the best strikers in Europe for the last few seasons. He is one of the rare strikers who are very clinical in majority of the games he plays so he is consistently very good.

I was looking for this stat, like how many games he got to get there, that's really impressive, he's so underrated.

Mbappe has 1 goal in 8 appearances for France and he is supposed to be one of the main men.

Agree with you on this in general. Dont believe in stats as well.....

Saying that Lukaku e.g. is stat padding as well....From a "donkey" at Everton to being world class at United in a few weeks....
