4 day test is ridiculous. Don't like it at all.
Why do you need a 0DI league when you have a world cup and champions trophy?
Test championship - Finally
Agreed. Test championship will be interesting to see how it goes but it should add more value to every test match, provided they're played over 5 days!
They are planning a four day test trial...and then going straight back to 5 day tests...apparently
I have said it before...test cricket needs a right good kick up the arrse....the day should be shared between batting & bowling to save an advantage to the toss of a coin
So many things you could introduce....
you should have a batting target to get to...and then you get offered an extension of batting If you have reached it...say 30 minutes then swap
to counter this - runs need to be added for slow over rate....absolute no brainer...this is currently an utter disgrace & the crowd/viewers are the losers
Bin the lunch & tea breaks....have the breaks in the swap-overs...15-20 minutes

I’m sorry to say but very confusing scenarios you have suggested and I don’t think it will work nor will be practical..

we'll never know...will we...the game will die before that
look how effective 20/20 is...as an example
they probably all said...oh that'll never work...too many changes "just not cricket"...blah blah
Test cricket needs a day 5 pitch. Especially in Asia where it is relatively flat for 3.5 days.

5 days is fine....in principle but most of the summer tests were done in less than 4 anyway but we could still employ some of my points...maybe in the 4 day trials...the run rate one certainly
Until this actually happens I won’t read too much into it. Icc in the past have announced lots of things like the test championship in 2017 and scrapping of CT but none of this happened in practice.
If it does happen I agree there will be a lot more context to this. Also there is a question mark on how members will implement these matches. There is a lot of power given to member boards on what they can arrange and what they can’t. This can backfire massively.
In addition will India lose points if they continue to refuse to play there better neighbours.
I am with fact taker.Tests should always be 5 days long.

Why change a tradition as 5 day test matches are good.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Go look see how many go to 5 days...and those that do are inevitably draws
Also tradition doesn't make money...the game is struggling
More than three quarters (75.2 per cent) of Tests between 1975 and 1979 went into a fifth day, rising to 77.1 per cent in the 1980s. That figure has dropped to just 58.3 per cent this decade. After England's series against South Africa, just 52 per cent of Test matches in 2017 have gone to a fifth day.
You might get an hours play in a fifth day...or a session...pointless if no-one is watching
I can bring numerous amazing tests results on 5th day, until tea or later time frame. There are many other points on the positive side for 5th day but I don’t want to drag on this topic.
My conclusion, 4days tests can back fire big time and in my view, its huge risk. In short, 4days is NOT the answer & u may reduce viewership especially who enjoy and respect real cricket!
The game needs more changes than just four days...it'll never be football... but an overhaul can save the test side of the game
you can't play 4 day matches in England.. if we lose a day to the rain. which is pretty likely. we will never get a result other than a draw..all 7 test matches were results this summer which made it great viewing. Draws are pointless.
I said it yonks ago.. we need stadiums with roofs.
Playing cricket in England in the winter and over Christmas would be amazing.

They are...and taking 5 days to achieve them even more so...
Roofs on Stadiums will be too costly for the amount they'd be used...unless other uses can be found for the ground...they'd have to be pretty high too...
