Rioch was just an interim for Wenger who WAS an absolute genius until around 2005. His ridiculous policy of getting rid of players as soon as they reached 30, together with thinking that he WAS the club was his undoing.
He should have kept some of the players longer eg Pires, Viera. He should have brought some of them back as coaches but he hates any form of competition. With him it's "my way or the highway" .
In the end HIS ego has been OUR downfall.
In GG's last season which saw him sacked we finished 12th and had to endure a midfield which contained John Jensen. Eddie McGoldrick, Steve Morrow ,Glenn Helder and Ian Selley at various times <Doh> BUT it also had Paul Merson, Stefan Schwarz and the Romford Pele himself. I would take those last three over Elneny, Xhaka and Iwobi every day of the week.
*And.... David Hillier !!!!
But one thing I never do, and that is turn my back on my team when things aren't perfect. Unlike Sammy fairweather. The "pathetic loser" is the one who turns his back on his team when they lose...

Gt has never been to the UK let alone an Arsenal game. great fan though

And yes I follow Hamburg as a German team and I support them as well but with less affection than I do with Arsenal. It always is and always will be.
