actually the 3pm game I decided to watch, palace were ok but main difference was zaha for them, dnt know what happened to the guy at utd(maybe too soon for the young lad) but was brilliant at the weekend, was surprised how easily they were able to bypass your midfield(no kante of course) saying that you lot had your chances in that 2nd half, just one those days I think
little of both.
they were pressing us from the off and we didn't look comfortable.
willian was particularly bad as was michi. Hazard although not bad when he got the ball was pretty anonymous. Zaha was MOTM by far imo.
it is as bad as ive seen us play under conte tbh.
hopefully the rocket we need much like the Arsenal game last season.
we missed Kante and morata although the way palace played I still think it would have been a draw at best
Morata was the bigger miss for me. His movement is top class and thus he moves the defenders around making room for others. Batshauyi just does not have that movement and that is a real worry whilst Morata is out.
Cannot believe we did not sign another back up striker in the summer. Llorente was all ready to sign and would have been perfect but we did not bother. Odd.
Who starts up front against Roma?
Without wishing to place blame ,why on earth we let Tammy go out,and why we didn't reinforce up front is very strange. Also it seems that without Kante ,we are lacking alternatives in midfield.
Batty will start again I think although Morata is back in training
Non-display from all apart from Bakayoko & Fabregas.
Morata starts on Wednesday.

Really annoyed we let Tammy go when it was obvious he's much better movement than Batshooey. Unforgivable for whoever sanctioned it in my eyes!
And yes - I said the same before the season started, before someone mentions hindsight.
I reckon Bakayoko would be Good in Kante's position but what we lack is someone who can do what Fabregas should do. IMO we need to get rid of him as soon as, you can't afford luxury players in this league And he's incapable of rolling his sleeves up and earning the right to play his game!
Tammy loan was a mutual decision between him & club, no problem with it.
Comes back a better player next season, due to playing regularly with Swansea. Very likely makes England squad (which im sure was an important factor in loan move in the first place) if he continues to perform and score week in week out.
Bats just does not know how to combat and maneuver opposition defences starting matches, atrocious.
Good as an impact sub though.
Drinkwater was bought as Fabregas alternative, unfortunately bad timing with injury.

Never quite got why the loan system offends people so much.
I reckon Benteke will be a Chelsea player by the end of the Jan transfer window, would be a good signing as well.
Hmm. Not terribly appealing.
Having said that, if we were to sign a striker in January it makes sense it is somebody not cup-tied from the CL (assuming we get through to the KO stages of course, not guaranteed at all if we carry on playing like we did on Saturday).
The only problem there is that counts out most of the decent strikers around.
Somebody English perhaps...?

Doesn't mean it was right. Appalling decision as far as I'm concerned!
The truth is you could tell from the start Palace would get something out of the game. When they scored, I am sure nobody was surprised. They pressed us and totally dominated till their first goal. I don't understand why we always setup in a low block and invite pressure even against the so called smaller teams. Yes we win a lot of matches but can someone actually tell me the last time we dominated a team?
In my opinion, we need to start putting emphasis more on attacking football than defensive shape. Our game yesterday was quite embarrassing. We seem clueless going forward for the most part.
We should be beating trash like this 0-3
I'm still fackin livid...
Yes. They were definitely more up for it than we were but when being pressed the way we were that is where we need the outlet up front. We did not have that and don't without Morata.
Conte clearly does not trust Batshauyi. Taking him off after less than an hour on Saturday says all we need to know although we looked much better after Pedro came on for him so Conte was right to do so.
I think we need to change formation if Bats is playing. He needs a second forward up with him.
Man City are going to run away with the PL this season or if no, Jose will bore his way to the title. Either way, I don't see us challenging. We over-performed by miles last season. Time to check out some of our young talents.
What's happened to Kenedy? I know he messed up pre-season but he's a decent player. He wasn't even on the bench on Saturday.
I'd also like to see Musonda start the odd match. See what he can do.
Why do people assume we overachieved last season, apart from maybe Alonso every player in our first team saturday was a full international player. We played badly Palace played their best game of the season we lost. They got a fluke first goal which after no goals all season gave them the confidence to keep fighting. Why do the masses presume that that game was defining of our season it could just as well be the Atleti game was the norm and palace a blip. We have a few injuries but i think what cost us most Saturday was starting Willian instead of Pedro.
I think we did overachieve last season. Not quite to the extent that Leicester did in their title winning season but after the disastrous previous season where we lost a lot of belief, yes I think we did better than we could have been expected to.
Alonso was a revelation. He did not look that sort of player at Bolton and Sunderland. Moses ditto. Never saw that coming.
Anyway, I hope you are right but we've not been anywhere near where we were last season. Such a defeat was coming. We beat Stoke 4-0 but in truth that match was far closer than the scoreline suggests. We didn't really get near City. OK, it was only 1-0 but they were the better side on the day for me. We are not ticking. Yet.
Im not usually one to kneejerk with youth and for the most part cringe when people do so but Christensen needs to be made a starter in his central position, Luiz should go LCB.
It will be interesting to see what team Conte picks for the Roma game, and also his tactics. Thankfully his knowledge of the Italians should be enough to see us through ,but only if Morata is playing, if not ,we will struggle.

I think we will win aslong as Bats ain't playing, although small sample size false 9 has worked well under Conte.
We need to manage Morata carefully this season, his body isn't use to the minutes we will give him so we need to rest him when we can.
