Impressive Halfy. You've set me up for the fierce journey through Storm Brian all the way from Cymru to the Holy Land. I'll take it as read that Nuno has understood my pre-match instruction that were sent by pigeon post incase I don't survive the expedition over Offa's Dyke.
With 5 games in the next 2 weeks Nuno has got to practice some squad rotation. I suspect that within those 2 weeks every player in the squad with the exception of Ofosu-Ayeh and maybe Kortney Hause will get to play at sometime or other.
The question is does he start rotating today or on Tuesday for the cup game?
With PNE being a largely defensive team I think Nuno will go for a very attacking line-up in which case I can see Vinagre getting the shout over Douglas, whereas Douglas would be first choice in the game against City.
I think he will start with Costa today as he is keen to get Costa fully match fit and he needs minutes on the pitch. If he does that he has to leave out Bonatini, Cavaleiro or Jota. If it was me I would leave out Cavaleiro and give him a full 90 minutes on Tuesday.
The wet and windy weather forecast for later today could be a big leveller and will probably suit Preston more than us. So when people question whether our foreign imports from warmer and drier climates will last the pace in the uk then it was days like today that they had in mind. The fluent football we saw last week won’t be much in evidence today and we will have to grind out a result against a team that have been doing well. Be very happy if we can scrape a narrow win today but will still go hoping to see a performance of champions
same again for me.
really rate cav this season as villa did too judging by the number of attempts to crock him.
I find Cav really frustrating. Looks good but makes the wrong decision most of the time.
the height of the storm is over the match time, wonder if there's a chance of match abandoned ?

5 match threads in 2 weeks, it's gonna be tough but I get through it lads
With PNE 5th in the table and only 5 points behind I'm surprised nobody has said they'd not be dissatisfied with a draw ?
Morning Gem

Unchanged side today, 2-1 with the same 2 scorers.

Doesn't 2-1 indicate 3 scorers?
Call me pedantic.
I ran out of fingers ,
lucky only 2 home scorers

Only 25 mph winds in Wolverhampton though, gusts up to 40mph. With the shelter of the stands I imagine it will be on. I can foresee there being too many safety issues for fans either.
I’m hoping my game is off down here so I can participate in the match thread. 50+ mph gusts on a 3G pitch where the ball doesn’t slow down, is going to make it rubbish.
In their 6 away games, Preston have had 3 draws of which 2 have been goalless. Only 1 match (1-3 at Birmingham) has seen a margin of more than 1 goal. So expect a tight, and perhaps, rather drawn out, game.
Still going for 2-1, with us getting ours either side of half time and them scoring on about 80 minutes, making for an excruciating last few minutes.
