a) why did mertesacker pass to him when he could see it.
b) why did mertesacker drop off rooney instead of closing him down. Rooney has no pace any more but he is still good at long shots

That was difficult for Xhaka on the goal. Of course He should have at least cleared it away, and was a bit slow. But he's surrounded by Everton players, and only pass on was risky ball back to kos. He needs Ramsey nearer him when he gets the ball from the back

yeah. its the too many cooks syndrome. with 4 at the back defenders are more committed. a lot of our goals this season have come from over playing at the back. its a no-no when you have one less midfield players. and doubly so when ramsey is also running forward.
Mertesacker has become such an easy target for the media and the fans.

They can't play as bad as the first half so expect a difficult game from now.
