Aye mate I’m afraid so. You’re looking to hang your whole case on a single word uttered by a junior minister for a party where it never became policy, never became law, never was enacted, never was enforced.
Like Blair said across the dispatch box to major; WEAK WEAK WEAK!!! 😘
The kiss was added by me, I don’t recall Blair doing that as leader of the opposition, major was getting enough of those from his own front bench.

Right ok
Immigration nationality & asylum act from 2006
Pressure on employers to check immigration status
Or the 2008 points based system that Labour created?
Yeah it’s just a phrase. No it was the start of dealing with the problem we were suffering from mass bet immigration which spiralled out of control under Labour.
They were looking to reduce this (rightly so) by making this country less appealing. Yet in 2022 all anyone points to is what the Tories did and no mention of Labour yet when a Tory MP does, you all deny it until you’re blue in the face

SatNav, whilst Blair is often (wrongly) blamed for the increase in migration under Labour, it was actually the EU enlargement scheme.
Which saw simultaneous accessions of ten countries such as Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Slovakia, Malta, Poland etc.

Although technically I blamed Labour as they were the government in charge at the time which saw the huge increases in net numbers.
1997 net migration 48,000
1998 140,000

Yeah it kinda is.
UK and EU Parliament (including many tory MPs, MEP's) voted in favour of the EU enlargement scheme.
It was an EU wide scheme, and blaming a PM (of any member state) for it is disingenuous.

The UK had the opportunity to decrease the numbers coming in, correct?
The UK did not decrease the numbers coming in, correct?
Labour government in charge for 13 years, Tony Blair in charge for the vast majority of those years.
Yeah it’s really not unfair to say that they fked up on immigration, at all.
You cannot say on one hand ‘we already had sovereignty which is why Brexit was nonsense’ and then on the other say ‘immigration numbers aren’t the responsibility of the UK government’
It’s one or the other.

Sole bloke said something once but didn't enact policy versus Theresa May who obviously did 🤔
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And you’re a thick dck but enough about your girth….
Said something once? Said something or proposed a policy that the following government put in place.
And why were Labour proposing such a policy in 2007? Because they fked up immigration so much from 1997-2007, that’s why.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
SatNav, whilst Blair is often (wrongly) blamed for the increase in migration under Labour, it was actually the EU enlargement scheme.
Which saw simultaneous accessions of ten countries such as Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Slovakia, Malta, Poland etc.

Hang on a minute, did we not have the rights to control our borders whilst we were in the EU?
I thought that’s what you have said many times on here? I could be wrong of course.

And just to add, whilst most of Europe implemented the Citizens Directive (only permitting FoM for up to 3 months, self sufficiency etc etc) UK governments did not.

My below post covered that. The UKGov could have implemented EU controls on immigration but chose not to. Which is one of the reasons why the UK was such an appealing destination for the ten new member states.

No it kinda isn’t.
