I have sympathy for nurses and doctors striking but teachers can do one. If they had their way schools would still be closed due to COVID. Cvnts.

Shouldn't have had kids if you don't have the time to look after them.

Crikey Hector that's harsh.

Many parents are now living under very different financial circumstances than they were when they planned for their kids. We've all heard folk on the tv/radio who's mortgages have gone off the scale.

The least the teachers can do is make sure that children are in school when they are supposed to be.

I may be alone on this forum (not for the first tine) but out in the real world many parents can't believe the teachers are putting kids and parents through this.

Yeah, tongue in cheek mate.

In the real world, strikes happen and normal people find solutions.

This brings back memories for my mother in 91’ when the yanks urged the Iraqis to up rise against Saddam, only for the yanks to abandon them and Saddam slaughter almost 1m of my people.

Unfortunately, if it does topple Putin, the comparison with Iraq post Saddam might be applicable too

No, this is wow:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/oct/06/post-pandemic-test-results-fally-sharply-for-youngest-pupils-in-england-ks1-key-stage-1

Fack teachers unions and fack teachers for blindly supporting them. They pushed schools closing at every opportunity and opposed schools reopening at every opportunity, but because the devastating effects of a generation of lost education are not as visible as someone on a ventilator, children were the afterthought throughout the pandemic by the very people who were meant to be there for them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd say "...the very people who (are) meant to be there for them..." are their parents.

My original comment concerns toppling Putin doesn't mean that all of a sudden Russia is going to be a safer and better place or better for international peace

For starters, Prigozhin has said that the war against Ukraine is “sacred” because people living in eastern Ukraine are “genetically Russian”, that as soon as he’s sorted Moscow out he’ll go back to “killing Ukrainians”, and that army bosses are weak because they are unwilling to use tactical nuclear weapons.

There are plenty of more dangerous loons than Putin close to power in Russia, and Prigozhin is one.

South East Water timeline:

June 2022 - Reports loss for financial year 21/22 but announces in a buoyant statement shareholder dividends of £9m.

October 2022 - Fined £3.2m by Ofwat for “repeatedly failing to meet industry standards”.

December 2022 - Widespread and long-lasting water outages affect thousands of homes and businesses in the SEW network. Greg Clark, MP for Tunbridge Wells, describes the leadership of South East Water as “deficient” in a crisis situation: “unacceptably bad and in some instances chaotic.”

Winter 2022 - Failures in SEW’s ageing infrastructure sees record volumetric losses from frozen pipes.

June 2023 - SEW has still failed to complete repairs to the previous winter’s damaged infrastructure.

June 2023 - SEW imposes a hosepipe ban. Schools are closed to save water and emergency bottled water stations are set up. CEO David Hinton writes to customers blaming water shortages on people still working from home following the pandemic.

Privatisation in a nutshell.

Darned smog from forest fires. Just went out on balcony and could smell the smoke from 100s of kms away. Been told they could burn until winter.
20-25 mms of rain for tomorrow should clean the air a bit. You can actually feel the smog in your throat.

Aha. The real reason for the exorbitant price increases recently. Grocery thieves.
I remember in the 80s in the pub beside where I worked there was a couple of guys who stole meat from grocers. They'd even take orders if they didnt have it in their cooler.
