It comes just after Kyriakos Mitsotakis repeated their long standing position that the Parthenon marbles (as they’re known in Greece) should be returned.

We didn't steal anything. They gave us permission to take whatever we wanted, same as the colonies. They signed away all their art, gold, natural resources and wealth, land, freedom and were even kind enough to supply us with free labour and raw materials.

We have the contracts to prove it.

Give back the Parthenon marbles and all the other old tat we stole

and once its cleared out, turn the British Museum into a Wetherspoons, let it reflect contemporary British culture rather than the historical.

I love the British museum and get returning Parthenon marbles might start a cascade of requests for other antiquities to be returned but honestly if they just replaced the what's there with a like for like representation it wouldn't stop me from going once a year
