Galloway’s shut down of the idiot sky reporter was an embarrassment for sky news
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I thought he came across awfully to be honest. He was asked questions about intimidation and then came across as prickly and aggressive. Makes you wonder what he thinks intimidation is.

Also, he kept talking about how he was elected and Rishi Sunak wasn't. Rishi won his seat democratically, exactly the same as Galloway. The fact people are praising him for aggressively making that point and refusing to answer questions is ridiculous.

I'd say it was more of an embarrassment for Rochdale than Sky News that they'd elect such a person.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, he didn't come off great here IMO. Ultimately he seems to be all about himself and whereas he says some things that are poignant and true, it feels like this is all to achieve some personal acclaim or agenda as opposed to trying to actually change anything for the better.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought it was an interview of 2 halves. The first half when it was all “Rishi Sunak said” I thought was a daft line of questioning with someone like Galloway and any experienced reporter should know that. Second half as they moved to the intimidation accusations I thought Galloway came across really poorly and extremely tin-eared.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Why wouldn't they ask questions about what Rishi Sunak said? The PM has made a statement directly about that election and threats to democracy. Whether you agree with what Rishi said or not, it is a completely relevant thing to ask about.

Galloway keeping on aggressively saying 'you're talking about him like he should impress me' and referring to Rishi as 'little' all the time isn't making the reporter look bad. Its showing Galloway up for the he is. He shouldn't get a different line of questioning to what other politicians would get because he is a .

Honestly, I thought the sunak press conference was a disgrace. “In the street”, the lectern etc demonstrated clearly to me that it was performative nonsense. As others have mentioned his rhetoric in that press conference sits in stark contrast to his attitude to Anderson, or Braverman, or Truss.

I think what Sunak said, and the way he chose to present it, and his inconsistent actions, should be treated with the disdain it deserves, by the press, by other MPs, and by the public.

That’s why I don’t think Galloway, or Starmer or any other MP, should be drawn on that shameful display by Sunak.

I also think Sunak's press conference was a disgrace. That doesn't mean the Sky reporter was around to ask about it or that Galloway's interview wasn't a disgrace either.

And I respect that and I don’t think I called the sky interview with Galloway a disgrace? I do think it was daft though. And as I said the second half I thought was better from the interviewers perspective.

There is no such conflation in the general and public sense. It is clear that anti immigration is closely linked with the question of race.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's really not

We (the left) got rid of C18, NF, BNP etc. in the mid 90s. There's no far right threat in this Country. It's just made up by ID politics muppets such as yourself who are pretending to be left in order to push your nefarious agenda towards the undermining of democracy and in many cases towards Sharia Law.

You give no two hoots about the working person, and in particular the white working person, and social cohesion is as far away from your goals as possible.

The lie that we must have an extreme capitalist pyramid scheme to keep the Country going has been proven wrong by Japan who are using automation instead of importing people.

The way you talk about it you try to make out like the left wing in Germany have a significant element of anti immigration, which is false. Could you be any more Tory than that? Lies are your forte.

A lie

You're just stupid, and you're not left, your pro immigration stance aligns with the Tories. I cannot be Tory because unlike you I don't want to undermine workers with cheap imported labour.

The reality is Mamba, decades of policies geared towards economic and labour market liberalisation fuelled the growth of precarious jobs that local workers don't want.

As I said part of the Tory playbook is to distract from their actual immigration policy, stop the boats, Rwanda etc

Tories talk tough and use political showmanship to create an appearance of control to conceal the true nature of thier immigration policy.

It's amazing how many people on this thread have laughed at this truth and think themselves left wing.

The Tories just aren't very good at governing or politics in general.

Wummer, do you know what the actual conservative immigration policy is? Its not pro immigration.

I guess the guardian are wumming too then.

"It is instead one that has been encouraged by decades of policies geared towards economic and labour market liberalisation, which have fuelled the growth of precarious jobs that local workers won’t take. Politicians from left to right know this reality, but they don’t dare admit it out of fear of being seen as “soft on immigration”. They choose instead to talk tough and revert to acts of political showmanship that create an appearance of control, but that in effect function as a smokescreen to conceal the true nature of immigration policy. Under this current arrangement, more and more migrants are allowed in, and the employment of undocumented workers is widely tolerated as they fill in crucial labour shortages.

Politicians have turned a blind eye as proven by almost laughably low levels of workplace enforcement."

So basically, you're telling a left winger like myself to trust what the Tories are telling us about their immigration policy, when both the right and left wing media have pointed out that they're lying about it.

Who are the Tories on here? It appears to be the people that are trying to tell me that they're anti-immigration when they're blatantly exploiting huge number of illegal migrants to prop up a failing economy with low wages.

They ended freedom of movement, they've closed all safe migration routes, they've barred access for the families of people who come on a work visa, they done a deal with Albania to take back their people who came illegally and they've done a deal worth hundreds of £millions of pounds with Rwanda

There's no C18, BNP, NF, EDL tags anywhere. They were all over London in the 80s and 90s. You weren't there, avoiding trying to get your head kicked in. You just hijacked our anti-racism movement and turned it into a militant anti-British movement. You have nothing to do with the left.

There's been lots of ACAB, BLM tags, and I suspect swastikas may well be making a return.

Socialism is a different distribution of wealth model which naturally feeds into a harmonious society from people of all backgrounds. It's not about promoting Islam or bringing as many people into the Country as possible to pay for triple locked pensions.

The tories didn't end freedom of movement. People from both sides of the political spectrum voted to end it.

The other things you mention have been explained to you in that guardian article as smokescreens. I have no idea why you want to convince me the Tories are anti-immigration.
