Interesting test case here. Parents of school shooter, who killed four, charged with manslaughter.

"The trial heard that James Crumbley, 47, had ignored his 15-year-old son's mental health needs, buying him the handgun he used in the November 2021 attack."

Who buys their 15 year old child a pistol as a gift?

"The average company director earns approx £20k more than an MP for doing far, far less".

I'd say the average company director is more accountable for their actions than the average MP. If a company director does a shiite job its reflected in the performance of the company, or shareholders if the company is public. They'll be given short shrift quick sharp. MP's by comparison can make promises in order to get elected renege on them but still be kept in post until the next election. The only way MP's seem to get sacked is by being a massive racist or not toeing the party line.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
"Until the next election" or recall petition.
I don't really know how else you hold an elected official accountable.

Yep, it’s mental. Mother is being charged too. There’s no winners here and not sure how I feel about it really.

If it stops more kids being shot somehow then good, I guess.

The Beeb story doesn't go into detail but they seem like a relatively normal working class suburban family. The apparent ignorance or unwillingness to address the sons mental health problems being a contributing factor.

I just can't get my head around 'what shall we get the lad for Christmas this year' and the answer being a gun.

I remember political correspondent Chris Hope chatting about the upcoming year at the start of 2024 and when the GE was likely to be.

He said that there was no way Rishi would call it in May as he will hope that the economy picks throughout the year. Autumn was his guess.

However what he said to look out for is Labour pretending that they think it will be called in May so they can accuse the government of being frit.

Sure enough Ellie Reeves (who is better looking than her sister but unfortunately has the same voice) was doing exactly that this morning.

Once again Labour taking the public for fools, it would be nice if the various interviewers told them they know what their doing and stopped it rather than giving them a platform to spout their faux outrage.

The Tories could go around to Pawls house, eat all his food, fvck the sh!t out of his Mrs, wipe their d!ck on the curtains, do a load of washing, leave a log in the toilet and knock the bins over on the way out and he would still say ‘Yeah, but Labour’.

We’re at 62 Tories standing down now and I won’t be surprised if it goes over 100 by the time the GE arrives

Grasping at straws trying to find ever more feeble reasons to strike back at Labour because his beloved Conservative party, with its begging hand perpetually outstretched to swivel eyed loons and racists, are being daily exposed as unfit to govern.

But but but Labour said May.

5 years ago today, a neo-nazi terrorist killed 51 Muslims whilst they were worshipping in a Mosque in Christchurch.

The dehumanisation of Muslims doesn’t occur in a vacuum; it is enabled by rhetoric from the top. Many have fanned the flames of bigotry with violent consequences.

Rishi was telling everyone yesterday that Labour were only calling for an election because they don't want to be questioned on their spending commitments.

So which is it?

I watched the rest of Question Time with Melanie Phillips as a panelist last night on catchup after watching the clip I posted. As per usual only half the conversation was being had. The Tory MP stated that in order for a ceasefire on both sides Hamas should release the remaining hostages and commit to never conducting atrocities against Israel, this is correct.

What wasn't discussed was the Israeli government reciprocating by committing to ending settlers taking land from Palestinians in the West Bank, IDF, Israeli police and the government not turning a blind eye to settler evictions and violence against Palestinians and the ending of imprisoning Palestinians without charge, legal due process, trials or release dates. These, IMO, are the reasons Hamas exist.

This will sound crazy, but I think they should be made to keep their promises in their manifestos and if they don’t, they should go.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There would be no politicians left anywhere in the world in this case
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's as maybe, but we'd hopefully realistic manifestos as a result - not a bunch of horseshit that they dump day one.

I think it was Phillips who alluded to Muslims and Jews working together day by day in Israel peacefully. That may be but I find this disingenuous and ignorant of the actions of the Israeli governmrnt, the IDF and the settlers.

I was round at my folks this morning having a catch up and I read my dear old dad this response to what I'd written. He thought it was hilarious, he's not been well lately so it was good to see him laughing.

Cheers Hoody.

No need for to be unpleasant Fields.

I simply pointed out that it's obvious what Labour are doing over a May GE (that was never happening) and it would be better if they didn't bother.
