Half of that sounds like it was written by Trump.

We may yet have someone under the age of 75 as President then.

They'll probably elect Jimmy Carter now.

Wouldn’t surprise me, Lot of rumours that Kamala (nominee) will choose Hilary as VP (nominee) apparently

She needs someone vocal / a big name to get her points across in a big way as she is a very passive person

Thought that Rachel Reeves interview was really good & interesting today. Especially about the pension funds investment

I feel like we need to do a lot more of having companies in this country be it rail, buses, etc where you have partial ownership e.g 25% investment / managing firms, 25% government owned, 25% public owned/invested, 25% private / outside funds or even a 3rd each and cut out the latter

Thats a bit state interventionist, you sure you are who you say you are?

Talking about old retirements, big up Arthur Parker too, have a great retirement sir

A much-loved lollipop man who is retiring after more than two decades says he is planning a "mad week in Benidorm" to celebrate the milestone.
Arthur Parker, 86, has helped pupils at Leyland Methodist Junior School in Lancashire cross the road safely for 22 years.
He is known for his high fives and infectious smile and said the joy he got out of the job is what had kept him young.
Mr Parker said he had "enjoyed every minute" of his morning and afternoon job.

Speaking about his decision to hang up his lollipop, he said: "It's a busy road and I think I'm getting on a bit over the hill now."
Mr Parker, who is originally from Workington, Cumbria, told BBC Radio Lancashire: "I've enjoyed every minute of it. It keeps me active."

I’ve always said I’m in favour of the majority of rail, buses, banks, other public companies being part owned a lot more via public investment, government too for additional regulations and less private / foreign ownership

There’s a hell of a lot of people in this country with a lot of wealth that would like to invest or partially own, equally investing pension money or money not needed further down the line

The investments government do with a lot of money they receive be it TAX or NI is in very, very poor fund held placing

Someone as smart and canny as Rachel Reeves could do an unbelievable job with that money

There’s also been a big rise in the last decade of private companies having partial (not full) employee ownership, which has also been very successful for a lot

Reaction continues to flood in - including from House Speaker, Mike Johnson.
"If Joe Biden is not fit to run for president, he is not fit to serve as president," the Republican writes on X.
"He must resign the office immediately," Johnson adds, going on to say that polling day in the US election, 5 November, "cannot arrive soon enough".

—————-

Highly doubt he’ll resign the presidency, but hypothetically I can’t work out if it would be a good thing or a bad thing from a democratic point of view if Kamala took office for 3-4 months before the election, anyone got any opinions

Less campaign trail time? Overwhelming trying to campaign while president but also not actively nominated as president ? But then a few months to show people what you’ve got? Easier to continue your policies etc as you can lay the groundwork now?

Positives and negatives to both I guess

Yes, as long as it’s under 2 years they can serve 2 more terms (so 10 years max)

Mark Kelly would be the best candidate. Would be a strong VP too.

Former US Navy captain who was in the Gulf War. Former astronaut who flew 4 missions. He's like the Trump antidote.

Pelosi the only prominent Democrat that hasn’t come out and endorsed Harris yet
