Winter fuel payment causing mayhem at the conference in Liverpool.

Why don't they just admit they made a mistake, this kind of u turn is forgotten in days and an easy win for Labour.

Agree with this

Anyone with a conscience can see this was an awful decision by Labour.

The newspapers have done a proper job on the winter payment threshold being revaluated.

It’s £300 a year, and millions still qualify. Pensions are going up by £460 a year across the board.

Reevaluated*

Labour have had alot of criticism for being so miserable and told to be more positive in Liverpool.

Robotic Reeves obviously took this to mean go into a room full of Labour supporters and slag off the Tories. As usual the speech was detail light and just played to the gallery.

As I regularly said before the GE this lot are gonna be hopeless in government but even I couldn't have predicted how badly they've started.

Still on about the wealthy pensioners

Where does this £460 across the board come from?

That's via the triple lock though, that was happening anyways.

So they’re better off then aren’t they? People are acting like every pensioner in the country has had £300 taken off them too. They haven’t. Far from it in fact.

The means testing should be based on who they voted for. If they voted Tory they get fack all for being stupid and, or, selfish cuuuuunts.

And should have to give back last years payment if they voted for brexit.

Excellent idea. They could apply these measures to anyone receiving some form of benefits since 2010.

Old age pension is not a benefit, you paid national insurance contributions all your working life in many cases fivty years, and like all insurers they love taking the premiums but hate paying any back.

There’s the nurses threatening strike over the 5.5% pay offer.

Maybe they feel emboldened. No idea why.

Guess they won’t be the last either.

As for the continuing heating allowance two, wonder why the Labour supporting unions are so incensed about it and will vote against the government? Strange days indeed.

You sound like you'd prefer all medical staff on strike, like we've seen under the last government, rather than one part threatening a strike

Lebanon raises death toll to 182

BREAKING

We've had another update through from Lebanon's ministry of health.

It says 182 people have been killed and 727 wounded, "including children, women and paramedics" in the strikes in southern Lebanon since this morning.

My heart is breaking

Do I?

You sound like someone who interprets things purely based upon prejudice.

Why on earth would anyone want nurses to go on strike for goodness sakes?

We’ve both just recently lost a parent each whilst under the care of amazing staff in their respective NHS hospitals; so maybe have a wee think before taking these quantum leaps whenever it takes your fancy. Practically everyone will depend upon them at some time in their life.

More of a warning shot across the bows as I read it, but action is certainly intimated.

Ok let's take a step back

What I inferred from "Maybe they feel emboldened. No idea why." Is you see what the other deals were and are saying the other shoe has dropped

What I'm saying is those deals were necessary to put the years of under pay and strike action to bed and a deal with the nurses will follow suit

While any % increase to Nurse pay will have a huge impact on NHS spending, eliminating strike action and encouraging staff to be NHS employed "rather than through an agency" can only be a good thing

Agree with all that.

My particular grouse was the settlement with rail unions for no beneficial improvements to outdated practice which seems to be leading into even more disputes.

Health and social care should have been dealt with first in my book.

Bottom line is that I just see practically everywhere agent rail unions took way more than their fair share.
