The oldest meat and fish markets in London, which date back 850 years, are facing permanent closure from 2028.
Smithfield meat market, near St Paul's Cathedral, and Billingsgate fish market in Canary Wharf are to be closed after the City of London Corporation voted to withdraw support for them.
The Corporation said it would now work with traders to help them find alternative premises.
Traders, who have been offered compensation, have said the move means a London tradition will be lost, with one saying "it's all about the money now".

Lol has there actually been a worst London mayor in history than Sadiq khan, what has actually improved in London

All the history gone or going and basically just $hit holes full of stabbings, vape shops and Turkish barbers or betting shops
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dont think Khan has anything to do with the City of London Corporation, isn't that the Lord Mayor of London?

"The Lord Mayor of the City of London is the head of the City of London Corporation, the governing body of the Square Mile dedicated to a vibrant and thriving City, supporting a diverse and sustainable London within a globally-successful UK"

Do you ever get anything right about the city you live in?

It's going to be a long hard journey back for the child. Severely traumatised, its going to be full time job for many years trying to get this kid better and even that might not work.

Here's hoping it does though.

Also how did other family members not know Surely this can't be true.

First, they come for the media and journalists:

‘Trump sues for billions from media he says is biased against him’

President-elect intensifies longstanding media hostility by filing lawsuits against New York Times, CBS and others

Doctors, teachers and accountants will be next. Predictable as clockwork.

Already started on those hasn't he?

An anti-vaxer in charge of health. Promising to shut down the Department of Education.

Then you have Vivek and Elon talking about getting rid of 75% of public sector workers.

Can easily see there being a brain drain in the US and the country consisting of a bunch of Oscars.

There's also talk they're going to remove press passes for some of the traditional media and instead give them to people like Joe Rogan.

“A little more than one-third of all counties nationwide are “maternity care deserts,” typically in rural areas, with no hospitals or birthing centers that offer obstetric care and no individual obstetric providers (not even midwives)…”

“ In some of these states, infant mortality is substantially higher. In Mississippi, it’s 9.39 deaths per 1,000 births.”

For reference, that’s a higher infant mortality rate than Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Malaysia or Thailand.

They’re really on their way to a real world Gilead.

Badenoch asks if Starmer will stand by his decision to ban the sale of petrol cars by 2030, even if jobs will suffer.

Starmer says the EV (electric vehicle) mandates were introduced by the last government. And Badenoch was the business secretary who introduced them, he says.

She's genuinely shocking at this isn't she?

She’s so funny when she does her little South Park triangle smile, when she thinks she’s asked a question to trip someone up, then makes herself look like a cuuuunt when they reply.

I didn't see it but surely she was pointing out that the Tories put it back to 2035 and he is moving the deadline forward to 2030?

The whole thing is crazy I discovered the other day that sale of hybrids is also being banned, shouldn't they be classed as electric?

Be interesting to see if any of it sticks, listening to N.Campbells phone in this morning many former E car owners were moaning about having to get rid because of the lack of infrastructure and p1ss poor range.

posted 2 days, 21 hours ago

The hybrid ban is 2035 I believe, but it's not like you won't be able to buy a petrol or diesel car, just obviously can't buy a new one.

The infrastructure definitely needs rolling out asap though because it's the main thing putting me off buying electric at the moment.

posted 2 days, 21 hours ago

Most electric car owners I know (including myself) are pretty happy with their electric cars. Infrastructure could always be better but that isn't just going to improve over night.

Trouble is, as with anything, it's always the moaners that get the most air time on any issue.

Sounds like the infrastructure is much better in some areas than others.

Until they get it sorted I would have thought hybrids were to be encouraged as they generate their own electric with no need to plug in.

The thing I miss the most is the engine noise.

That aside; love all electric now and whilst the infrastructure has a long way to go, is finally starting to show increasing improvement.

As things stand it’s almost there but that is mainly down to a still very low percentage of electric car owners.

I live in the South West, which I imagine has some pretty poor infrastructure compared to other areas. I have a range of 300 miles though and have never been inconvenienced by it.

If I ever drive somewhere which is getting to that range I'll generally stop anyway. Car charge from 20% to 80% in about 30 minutes these days, so once you've been to the toilet and had some food then you are usually good to go.

When I go to watch Wolves for example, I generally drive the 160 miles and park somewhere where I'm able to charge it whilst at the game.

Majority of the time though, it charges on my drive. I actually feel more inconvenienced these days when I have to refuel Mrs Tamwolf's Nissan Xtrail. Petrol stations seem a hassle to me these days.

You need to get a BMW i4 Ging. Put it in sport mode and the noise it plays into the car when you accelerate is great. My 14 month old daughter loves it when I put my foot down and the g force hits with the noise.

I'm happy for them to do it if we get a second referendum in parallel. Results binding this time.

Let's see Farage negotiate our re-entry to the EU.
