Inevitably she's done the right thing in resigning.
Multiple accusations of her work phones being stolen or lost resulting in a criminal prosecution can't be dressed up as some "mistake" no matter how she tries.
I get the feeling there's something more in this. Maybe wanting WhatsApp messages to disappear. Maybe that's just my cynical mind though

So it looks like hybrid vehicles will be allowed to be sold up until 2030 which is a significant pull back on the nett zero targets. And supposedly those who self generate charge are to be included as well.
How on earth can manufacturers plan and invest with this continual rule changing?

Disagree massively
People have a right to a past should be afforded the opportunity to attone and turn their lives around
Blocking criminals (especially petty crime) from certain things in life is counter productive to rehabilitation and a safer society as you essentially create a situation where they're pushed further away from normal life
It should be up to the the local party and then the electorate whether they want someone with a conviction in office
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree people should be entitled to a second chance if they atone and come clean, but if the Sky News report is to be believed, it's hard to say she's atoned when she still isn't telling the straight up truth ten years later.
If this was your own company, do you think you'd trust someone who's still lying about past instances of fraud to be overseeing multi-million pound contracts?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If she did it now as a minister then no but you're taking a sky news report on three unnamed sources who seem to have the perfect memory of something that happened over a decade ago
It's right that she resigned and showed the integrity now that she may have failed to do so in her early 20s but I'm really not going to judge her for this or say she's unfit for office as a result
It however should have been more publicly declared once Starmer knew
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be fair, I am, yes. But that's largely because we're so used to the political class grifting and embezzling public funds, that I find those anonymous claims far easier to believe than Haigh's.
And I don't think you'd forget that easily if, as in this case, someone you knew - a work colleague, for example - had been sacked for making false police claims just to get herself a new phone and only a few months later had been elected to Parliament. I reckon something like that would be pretty much burned onto my brain.
Ftr, I'm resolutely left-wing, though if I were in the UK I'd probably prefer to throw away my vote on the Green Party or some other actual left-wing option rather than give it to anyone in the institutionalised Westminster mob.

The hybrid ban is ridiculous.
At a time when most agree that the charging infrastructure is found to be wanting surely vehicles that generate their own electric are to be encouraged?

@CEG, they're clearly the lesser of two evils, but we've seen very recently what happens if the party shifts 'too far' to the left.
For the 'nudging' you speak of to ever succeed, it would require shifts to take place over successive Labour leadership groups, and imo Labour's too strongly influenced by corporate power, institutional power, and the fourth estate for that to happen.

Apparently she was getting nobbed by Nick Knowles a few years back which is far more of a worry and should have ensured she never had a Cabinet position.

Not that it matter’s but the way the dresses
I think she’s been taking wardrobe advice from chavy Rayner.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How is Rayner a chaav?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
its a fair question.

Leave angie alone
Angie

Can’t stand her politics but absolutely yes

Labour’s version of Katie Price

Not surprised this Tory redneck is resorting to stereotypes about a working class woman.

Please don’t lecture anyone ever about using stereotypes when you do it all the time๐
