Victoria Thomas Bowen, 25, was sentenced to 13 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months.

Didn't know it was supposed to have been two consecutive notes.

It is still feasible, however, that the notes were tampered with by whoever packaged them for the ATM.

How they showed up in an ATM 'next to' a synagogue is an interesting question, but if you look at the original wording, it says 'near'. That could be anything from next door to a few blocks away.

I don't know where the notes 'showed up', but if there are predominantly Jewish neighbourhoods in the town/city in question, it might be possible to know where different batches of notes are headed, idk.

Bottom line is, taking a potential conspiratard's word at face value just because it fits with what we want to believe is a dangerous rabbit hole to go down.

A-ha. I have just seen that the original tweet now includes a remark from the Reserve Bank of Australia saying it's not possible to receive a banknote with graffiti on it directly from an ATM in Australia.

Hmm.

So yeah, that just about confirms it's fake. It would be even more helpful if the RBA explained how the quality is controlled to make certain.
