In 2017, the company attracted scandal after PIA staff members sacrificed a goat on the tarmac for good luck.
----

What's so scandalous about that, was it on the vegan runway?

It’s a bit risky if it’s a foggy day and the pilots of the incoming aircraft are drunk

It's common knowledge that in those cases you have to throw it off the control tower.

"Today Mike Amesbury has pleaded guilty to assault.

The great people of Runcorn deserve far better than this.

We call on Mike Amesbury to do the honourable thing and resign immediately so a byelection can be held."

Say Reform plc, I'd suggest such a demand would hold more weight if one- of their own MPs hadn't pled guilty to beating up a woman and spending 3 weeks in a YOI.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There has to be a by election now anyway the MP is a criminal, Reform are gonna be eyeing the seat up

HAHAHAHAHA

I'm actually now concerned that EasyJet didn't do this before my flight earlier in the week. Did they not want our flight to have good luck?

It’s an extra, open the app and go to Manage my Booking> Ritual Slaughter

Funnily enough, ritual slaughter is exactly what their booking process feels like.

‘Do you need an additional cabin bag?’

‘Are you sure you don’t need an additional cabin bag?’

‘Hmmmm, really? Are you sure that you’re sure?’

‘You do facking need an additional cabin bag, you liar. We’ve preselected the box below. Uncheck it if you don’t definitely not want to not un-bring two cabin bags on board.’

‘Good, that’s what we thought. Now, heads up, you’re going to save yourself a lot of time if you let us sell you travel insurance at the first time of asking…’

There's a €30 ritual slaughter fee if you fly with RyanAir and you have to do it yourself before you leave home

Amesbury would need to receive a prison sentence – including a suspended sentence – in order for there to be a recall petition in his seat of Runcorn and Helsby.

That recall petition would then need more than 10 per cent of voters in his constituency to sign it to trigger a by-election.

A recall petition would also be triggered if the House of Commons decided to suspend him for 10 sitting days or more. If he were to resign, that would also lead to a by-election

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvg96nzr4l0o

I think he should resign personally and that Reform have a brass neck.

If he’s pleaded guilty to assault then surely he’s gonna be doing time?

posted 1 day, 9 hours ago

Also I don’t get why there wouldn’t be an automatic by election if an MP is sent to prison, wtf use are they gonna for their constituents from inside?

Nah, he’ll get a community order and/or a fine. He won’t be doing time for common assault if it’s a first offence with no lasting harm done to the victim.

BREAKING: ITV is reporting that Home Secretary Yvette Cooper will announce a plan for government-backed local inquiries into grooming gangs.

Cooper is also expected to announce new directions to police forces on investigating cases of child sexual exploitation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Is this for future cases or will it be applied to the “Rotherham” scandal?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There have been three independent investigations into Rotherham already. Three.

Why not another one, I guess? Burn some more money for no reason.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You know very well they were localised enquiries and didn’t have the far reaching powers of a national government enquiry that compels people to testify, regardless of their status.

But you hang on to quite possibly one of the worst scandals in modern times being swept under the carpet and nobody being held to account

A full-time employee on the National Living Wage is set to earn roughly £26,660 when April’s uplift is introduced, meaning they will surpass the £25,000 threshold at which student loan repayments kick in.

Paula Vennells of Post Office fame, David Duckenfield, those responsible for the infected blood scandal, those responsible for Grenfell, Windrush, phine hacking & Levenson and many more. All these don't get the same screams for justice or outrage for some reason I can't put my finger on

“Cooper will announce a plan for government-backed local inquiries”

We’re talking about local inquiries. There have been three such inquiries in Rotherham already. All delivered recommendations, many of which have been implemented already.

What, specifically, are your problems with the local Jay and Casey inquiries?

As to “one of the worst scandals in modern times”, just a reminder that the data shows that ‘Pakistani grooming gangs’ potentially account for a *maximum* of 0.06% of UK child abuse cases.

The Arch Bishop of Canterbury can slope off and resign for his role in covering up abuse within his church, whose priests have been abusing thousands kids for decades, without too much fuss or cries for a public enquiry.

Wonder what the difference is between this and grooming gangs?

More details on Home Sec announcement:

⚪️4 new local inquiries (5 including Oldham) - Not expected to have power to summon witnesses (what Sarah Champion wanted) but national support in terms of funding + expertise.
⚪️“Rapid Audit” overseen Baroness Casey (Also working on Social Care Commission) – 3-months, bringing data together working out what can be learnt at national level.

What's the point if these local inquiries don't have power to summon witnesses?

So these inquiries will be pointless if that's the case that they can't compel witnesses
