Reading online reports some of the rhetoric in the past week from the first minister has been called into question and going back to February you had sammy wilson with his guerrilla warfare remarks in relation to the ni protocol.
It's very sad to see young teenagers involved in these riots some as young as 13.
You have to question what understanding, if any, they would have of international protocols and what real significance a funeral that happened a year ago would have to them.
Some of these kids will end up with police records because of their involvement in these riots which is shameful on those who are stirring it up.

Fair points.
I mentioned UUP as their leader has been on along with other unionists regarding the Story funeral and PPS response, and the more moderate UUP also oppose the NI - GB border protocol, so it is across the unionist and loyalist family this resentment just now.
Sammy is an eejit and should be quiet, not talking about doing what pira activists did here, really.Although, loyalists are SF in power, some terror convicts etc, so it is hard to say violence does not pay to young loyalists, when it actually pays quiet well, and power follows.
Morally, I would not encourage violence, but it has been seen to work.
You are spot on about teenagers not knowing about the protocol, but some see SF stir things up about a United Ireland and border poll and moan about a land border, so then get angry if they are expected to accept a border.
Many young folk also want a buzz and a fight or cause and so Hardmen and hoods in the shadows recruit and encourage them to join the cause and gang.

Actually, my opposition to covid passports goes beyond going to the pub for a drink too and more into what it could mean in the future. Obviously you wouldn't think that though, as you would just want to bracket everyone to suit your own narrative and help with your divisive and inflammatory generalisations.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am talking generally because we’re not here to name specific people. I am talking about those that supported lockdowns but oppose this.
As mentioned above, why are we now considering future consequences but weren’t when it came to locking down?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who says I didn't consider long term consequences when I supported the decision lockdown at the time?
I would have much preferred us not to have to lockdown and taken precautions sooner, but at the time on balance a finite lockdown to stop health service becoming overwhelmed and having a more severe long term impact was the right call in my opinion.
Now we are at a point where the vaccinations have been given to those who are vulnerable and in high risk categories, the balance has tipped the other way and the risks they were in place to mitigate are potentially less severe than the consequences of the new measures in my opinion.
Unfortunately for you, my opinion is individualistic and quite nuanced; no matter how much you want to group or generalise. Although, apparently my punishment for having a nuanced opinion should be to be made to suffer for it not being completely polarised the same as yours.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Afternoon Tam.
Hope you And yours are well, bud.
This time last year I thought I would be a goner at 55 with asthma and wanted earlier harder lockdown like many.
Perhaps we should hsve closed airports and travel I to UK and perhaps we could have locked down in Feb 2020....now we have also lost school and Uni years and businesses and mental health, so lockdown creates and solves problems.
None of us really know how to handle a new airborne pandemic and it is guess work, luck, on top of science,,medical advice and common sense.
Tam - you’re the one taking it to an individual level, not me and I think this is where you’re going wrong. If you’d like to discuss your individual thoughts and considerations then we can. But I’m taking generally as I cannot speak to every individual in this equation.
I have repeatedly kept it generalised because in general, people supported lockdown didn’t sufficiently think about the consequences down the line or believe them yet are now worried about liberty and possible consequences down the line which ironically are a direct consequences of the acceptance of lockdowns.
The Liberty ship sailed with lockdowns, not passports.

The Chinese use them as a valid method of controlling the end stage of coming out of a pandemic. We follow the Chinese so why not now?
The point is that the nation just rolled over on its belly all last year and these are the consequences of doing that.
Suck it up and maybe learn the lesson to not be so accepting next time something like this happens.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is everything ok btw? You’re seeming quite grumpy at the mo. I think the advise to lock down came from SAGE, not from China.
Not sure why you’re directing any animosity towards me (or indeed many others on this site). I’ve consistently said it was about ensuring that the NHS wasn’t overwhelmed.

NI riots.
Guy was set on fire in last night's riot by his petrol bomb "mates" ....throwing a petrol bomb as the bloke stood in front of a landrover and fell into flames, so he was fighting like mad on the ground to put flames out, with help from some in the crowd.
However, as this guy goes through the horror of being on fire, another thug steps up beside him to throw a petrol at the police, rather than helping to prevent a guy burning alive or being scarred for life, right next to him.
No words for human behaviour at times.

I was speaking generally, not specifically at you. At least I’m trying my best to because I can’t speak to everyone with all of their individual views.
Yes the SAGE recommendations which were the same as China. We had protocols in place which we had agreed upon years prior to Covid-19 and threw them out the window and copied the Chinese approach.
Apologies for grumpiness (to you also Tam), I am incredibly irritable these days; the lockdown is getting to all of us and it just really pees me off when people apply concern about a protocol such as passports but didn’t apply the same vigorous concern when our actual freedoms were taken away. The proportions are way out of whack.
Yeah of course the NHS was the issue, did lockdowns actually achieve much in this regard? We still don’t really know mostly because the data is faulty and the.consequences are still yet to be realised. More so with this roadmap we were given, so many people thought it was fair & reasonable and even wanted it to be tougher! Utterly ridiculous imo.
Yet for some weird reason, many of those people who felt lockdowns were justified and that the roadmap was reasonable now don’t think that passports are justified?
We were given the longest lockdown AFTER the creation of effective vaccines and hardly anyone batted an eyelid but passports are this big danger.
Ultimately, all I’m trying to say is this: if more people had concerns and/or voiced and raised their already existing concerns about lockdown in the first place last year then we wouldn’t have a situation whereby our freedoms are easily taken and given back.
