" I can't help but feel that that is actually a good thing for Spurs, because it's enabling them to go about their business under the radar a little bit, which takes pressure off Spurs and adds pressure onto City. Which can only really benefit Spurs - a la nothing to lose kind of thing."

This is why Spurs won't win anything, this mentality alongside Poch's stubbornness.

You have just implied you are happy with Spurs putting the pressure on and looking like they are in contention so you can all give yourselves a pat on the back at the end of the season without having actually won (or seriously competed) for anything.

Lose this mentality and Spurs can win things. Harry Kane is world class without doubt.

Nice comments Ripley

Both sides are shaping up really well this season, I think your attacking depth is matched by our defensive depth.

Here is to a great title race (hopefully you are not out of sight by our December game)

Good article

I think most of us spurs fans are happy as feck we’ve got a good team who play good football.

Hopefully we can win something this season.

City are playing some wonderful football and i enjoy watching them.

Peks

There's absolutely nothing wrong with commenting on a season as it's actually happening.

Otherwise, places like this would be dead during the season and only come to life in June/July.

Your comment is a redundant one. What your comment can only possibly achieve is to shut down any conversation at a time when football is being played.

Everyone is aware of what month it is. Everyone is aware of when the prizes are handed out. And more to the point, there is absolutely nothing wrong with giving praise where praise is due. Irrespective of what time of year it is said.

I realise now the OP is a city fan, but this kind of mentality from Spurs fans (and I suspect some of the players) is why they haven't won anything for nearly a decade

Actually, my intention was to imply the exact opposite of what you've just said.

Lots ridiculed us last season by saying we just put pressure on and bottled it.

We won something like 13 out of 14 games so I think our players have to mentality to keep winning games.

Chelsea won it last season because they were the best team in the country.

Yes due to how good chelsea were, we were never in a position to bottle it.

Win, lose or draw that game against west ham last season, it didn't matter. Chelsea already had the title wrapped up.

That advantageous spell without European football when they won 13 on the spin killed everyone. We were 13pts behind at one point weren't we?

That we even got back in the race took a monumental effort

posted on 23/10/17

Very true

They’re finding it tougher this season with European football and injuries.

Thanks Ripley's.

It will be an interesting one, I normally have a slight soft spot for City because I loved the football they played & enjoyed watching them in the Mancini & Pellegrini era's & even last season. I have to say I struggle to warm to the team now just due to the amount of money spent on each player: although seeing Silva, Sane & Aguero on song is how football should be played.

Great article Ripley`s. You put it so much better than I could ever put it, but I share the same sentiments regarding Spurs. Spurs really are the real deal now, and as you say they are quietly going about their business, under the radar. They have not a weakness, as far as I can see, from Lloris in goal to Kane up front.

It remains to be seen what happens this season, but eventually Spurs will get over the line, it is not a matter of if, but when. This is definitely the best Spurs team I have seen since the Double Days. And I have seen quite a few trophy winning sides since then, but none of them had the consistency of the current side.

Good article as ususal from you Ripleys

I think City have been immense this season and are definitely the team to beat. My thoughts on the mentality at Spurs is we have a core of young players who seem fearless. And as said above, I hope City arent out of sight when we get to play them as the head to heads could hopefully be the most important games of the season for both teams.

Having said all that, we will probably have a howler somewhere and its our recovery from that which will define our league campaign and give a real test of our minerals. We will also need a dip in form from City at some point. My reckoning is we would need the stars to align for us to win the League, but we are still in the chase and its only a quarter done.

I actually think that Spurs will be ok in regards to their attitude in recovering from a setback. You've had a couple already this season and shown no real problem in that respect. As for ourselves (City), i'm not so sure. At least in the respect that it is something that (this season at least) is yet to be seen. We didn't cope at all well last season when it happened. And it will happen this season at some point.

One thing I did think was that playing at Wembley couldn't have come at a worse time (said for dramatic effect, but hopefully you know what I mean). I do think you would have collected more points at home this season had those games been played at WHL, and even if you pick up from here-on-in, those points already dropped at "home" could prove crucial in the title race. Of course, that's purely hypothetical on my part. And what has to be said in conjunction with this point of mine is that Spurs have started the season better than they have in previous seasons - which bodes incredibly well for you guys. If we are to point to previous seasons as any barometer, then this is in Spurs' favour. Spurs have got stronger, especially during the mid-way point in a campaign, whereas it is at that point of a season where City have faltered.

That is true, and your view from the outside looking in brings some perspective. Its sometimes hard to see it that way.

I often feel in my heart that if we were at the Lane we would be doing much better but if I think with my head (and when its pointed out) maybe Wembley isnt that bad after all.

cheers for the article mate, its always good to see the view from the supporters of other clubs when its this objective and unbiased.

The one thing i will say is i don't think the style of play at Spurs is incredible as made out in terms of on the eye, majorly effective but in terms of fluency City are well ahead.

Infact they kind of remind me of us under Jose the first time although not quite that high level yet, mainly because the defense is insanely good and they wear team's down playing whatever tactics are nessesery, none of this purist, one way crap.

Even as a Chelsea fan you have to hold your hands up and accept Spurs and Pochettino are building something special, the trajectory they are on is ominous and it's only a matter of time until they are Champion unless us or City keep pulling "Chelsea 16/17's".The only danger for Spurs that could see this trajectory halted is Levy's wage structure, to keep the team together Levy will have to break it sooner or later and pay the player's the going rate.
