The Telegraph are reporting the fine as £40M.

The fine should accrue against their current balance sheet less the £39M allowable loss over 3 years.

The stupid sheep think we are in line for a fine too!

The thing is Derby will need to get promoted this season; if not they will have to sell again to make the accounts balance.
If they don't, they may be circling the drain themselves.

The ffp regulations have failed to provide an financially fair environment for us to all play in.

They should be scrapped, all fines paid back, apologies sent out to those affected, and just allow football clubs to run as their owners see fit.

To many rules in the game as it is, I vote for freedom

Mmm you can effectively spend what you want in the Prem'.

What would have happened to Forest though when the grown ups spotted Al-Hasawi's spending and cut up his cheque book?

Absolute nonsense. QPR deserve everything they get. For me it should be the full £58m in full straight away or a 50 point deduction every season until it’s paid in full.

There has to be some kind of regulation or the fly by night owners already infecting the game, such as these QPR owners, will take clubs further into the financial abyss. These clubs are community assets that should be run responsibly. Agree that the rules aren’t great but when the EFL are up against people who are paid to spend incessantly on lawyers to try and trip them up, we are left in this position where it is all up in the air.

Just seen that, one of the more challenged ones at least. Apparently it's what comes around goes around, despite their own spending in recent years and us already having been punished. Bloody think idiot

This could quite easily have been us had Fawaz had any skill in running a football club.
The fact we failed and got punished seems the lesser of two evils if QPR are hit with this record? fine.

It's an odd approach to put regulation in place that is in theory to stop clubs going into admin or out of existence due to careless spending. And one of the punishments is a massive fine, it should be an embargo realistically to line up with the other clubs.

Take the bin robbers or even Bournemouth, they'd have been up for long enough that'd you think they have built up the finances to deal with any fine on relegation

I doubt that Fawaz was capable of going for a pee on his own?

The fine (£58m is being quoted) was levied when the club was reaping the rewards of their underhand business practices and the PL income that came with it.
They have been aware of the fine and the consequences for the best part of four seasons, in which time they were in receipt of income from being in the PL and the associated parachute payments.

They've had more than enough time to have paid the fine twice over.

I agree, but when initially muted when they set-up these rules, it seemed odd to me when compared with justification for doing so. Then again, everything the EFL touch seems to have little sense and would be better if they just left alone. They have to be seen to be doing stuff though I guess

That, Ray is quite frankly ridicules.

QPR fans should vent and direct their anger over this at the very people responsible and not the FL: Fernandez, Mittal and Sloppy chops himself.

He wasn't directly involved at the time was he? I think in this instance he joined the club AFTER the period which they are being penalised for.

It's amusing as his approach to spending has put various clubs in the mire and could even be a factor in the rules being drawn up in the first place. And he's shocked and devastated they've caught up with another of his former clubs.

What a plank

He won't be shocked and devastated for long though; take a drive around Arry's hood some time. You'll find it interesting.

Anyway I thought the bloke couldn't read?

I’d be proud of the Prem title, BS, but less so of all the small local business left well out of pocket by a sneaky little move that was so morally wrong.

Will - talking about two different things I think. Recent FFP and our administration - which I've got through a number of times,

I've referenced accountants who worked for the club at the time, trying desperately to sell or offload players on ludicrous wages while we had a new stadium to pay for and of course the collapse of itv digital at the same time as getting relegated

This myth that we sat back and let our creditors burn while keeping hold of our best players is just a myth. Should we have got docked points? Yep but we didn't control that part.

I'm not proud of it but not ashamed either, it was just very unfortunate and we almost folded. Strett puts his fingers in his ears whenever I make these points, so I just rip on him these days

Leicester.... went into liquidation, phoenix-ed & then, rebuilt from there, before breaching FFP rules, but avoiding punishment by staying in EPL.

Nothing to see here.

Also, worth pointing out that Bournemouth had a fine, paid it and will have no problem when/if they get relegated. Leicester have fudged their accounts and will dispute their liability.
