Thank God Verts and Sanchez will be back they must have been horrified by last nights attempts to defend.

Last night`s defending brought back memories of old cement boots. It was horrific. And at least Lloris will be back in goal. Vorm messed up big time for their first goal, and he never convinces me. Probably lack of game time.

Yes Sandy, I've been very critical of Hugo over the past couple of seasons and after the Chelsea game I thought here we go again but he has been much better lately and that save from Coutinho was astonishing. Vorm was like a rabbit in the headlights last night.

I'm not as down on Llorente as most on this board seem to be. I would include him on the bench for both matches, as I expect Pochettino will.

How does Sanchez not get into your team?

Assuming that’s to me?

I’ve not on the over top hype train as most that’s why. I see huge potential in him but I’ve also seen huge gaps in his game.

Seen him be bullied by a youngster like Abraham but then do well against Ronaldo so he’s very inconsistent.

He gets very tight on players then relies on his pace to make up for it and I can see Lukaku getting one over on him.

His pretty average on the ball too

Huge gaps in his game is harsh. Possible he's under instruction to get tight, with toby/jan sweeping up. When played RCB v Madrid this was less of an issue.

It’s very natural that he’s has gaps to improve some significantly as he is a very very young CB.

I see huge potential in him but I’m not sure if he has to be first choice ( 3 CBs ). I still believe Dier will go and become a great CB too so it’s not really a huge deal to question a selection if we have a better CM combo ( which Dembele & winks are imo ) available

The Mirror is saying tonight Llorente will start as Kane wont be fit because of the injury he picked up against the scousers. But it’s the Mirror, so pinch of salt and all that

Quite a few papers reporting it actually, including the Times..

Yea all because when poch was asked he said we’ll see ( if Kane plays ) in a interview. Can’t see him not playing tbh

The rumours are growing about Kane not playing, which means he will probably miss the Real match as well. God help us if we have to rely on Llorente for these two matches.

i don't think there are any signs of this as he has looked awful playing CB in a two. in a back 3 he is fine. could obviously turn around.

There’s been plenty of signs. Put this way all the mistakes Diers made Sanchez makes too although Sanchez is worse on the Ball.

Only thing that will stop Dier is himself believing he’s a top CM which he clearly isn’t

yeah i agree he isn't a top CM but that looks to be where he will be playing most for us unfortunately. Every time he moves into defence we improve, but that's in a back 3 which is my point, if he's to be a top CB for me he has to prove it in a back 2 but then so will Sanchez like you say.
When everyone is fit etc, it is literally a toss up between who plays out of them two.
