Catalonia is perfectly valid, it's the region's name in English. It's like saying we ought to start saying España, Deutschland or Hrvatska.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But its it Scotland, Schottland, Escocia or Alba?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Interesting question.
What is the Duke of Alba actually the duke of?

What happens if London decided it wanted to leave the UK and become independent just because its economy was stronger than other parts?

They don't need to, they effectively live in their own wee bubble anyway.

You're like that southern 2watt from earlier, can't tell a city from a region. It's Catalunya that's declared independence , not Barcelona.
Both the Spanish and the Catalan gov'ts have been infuriatingly pig-headed on this issue.
The Spanish far left has been the only consistent voice of reason in all this.

London would be as well declaring independence, it has fcck all in common with the rest of the UK.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep - nothing at all...except that what happens in London basically reverberates throughout the UK.
Apart from that though...
P.S You have to laugh at 'Champagne Socialists' like Zico 'Two Houses' (allegedly) #bigpinchofsalt
London drains the UK of resources; financially, culturally, politically.
It's it's own wee world.
Way too much power and control there.

Name one other country that has it's financial, political, and cultural centres all in the same place. It's capital no less.
London drains almost all of the top talent into it away from the rest of the country.
Just look at the north of England.. forgotten about for years.
London has also had the cheek of deciding to spend billions on a new raop service to it, that'll shave mere minutes of the current service. Meanwhile it'll destroy loads of countryside just to build it and cost the rest of the country.
At a time when money is being squeezed from every other facet of the country. NHS needs billions.. but nah, we're London and we want people to get here a few mins faster
They never heard of conference calls?

There's another one.. house prices.
Inflated London market ends up forcing up prices around the rest of the country, to the point where people actually from those areas can no longer afford them and have to move out, despite generations of their family living there.
London absolutely is a bane on the rest of the country.

Haha, ok - let's look around the world and look at countries whose 'capitals' are from the old days but are not really - 'false capitals' from a business perspective.
Is Bern really where the action happens in Switzerland (we all know that Zurich is where the action happens)? Berlin is the capital of Germany but we all know that Frankfurt is where the action happens. I could go on...
---
London drains almost all of the top talent into it away from the rest of the country.
Haha - absolute drivel and there is no way on earth you can prove otherwise. I know many, many people who are nowhere near London - they prefer to live away from the place and are at the top of their game in other countries - nevermind London.
--------
Just look at the north of England.. forgotten about for years.
Manchester, Liverpool to name the main Northern cities are apparently flourishing - as is Leeds.
------
London has also had the cheek of deciding to spend billions on a new raop service to it, that'll shave mere minutes of the current service. Meanwhile it'll destroy loads of countryside just to build it and cost the rest of the country.
Never heard of the RAOP but I am sure you will inform me.

Conference calls are dog toffee - sat in on many throughout the years and nothing of importance ever gets achieved. You have to see someone face to face to get across what you want.
Apart from that - you missed off cultural and political draining?

Juke - rather than skirt around the edges (like I said, why did you omit to miss off why London is draining cultural and political resources) - just say I don't like London.
Cuts out the need for all the claptrap
