I enjoyed our performance last night. Armstrong missed a guilt edged chance but to be honest, I thought he worked hard.
What was pleasantly surprising about last night was that we played well but actually attacking Bayern, it wasn't just a backs to the wall job. The goal itself was a thing of beauty that we scored- James Forrest channelling Aidan McGeady against AC Milan.
Boyata will be gutted, you could see that at the final whistle but overall, considering I was expecting a 0-3 or something along those lines, we did very well.
On the subject of it not being Bayerns first team- look at the fact that James Rodriguez and Tolliso more than £70m worth of player are the "replacements", they are still more than a cut above what we can afford to bring in.
It was disappointing to lose that game but what an atmosphere and our technical play was the most pleasing thing.

gordons strength is in shot stopping, he is guff at running out so needs to give that a miss
play to your abilities ffs
Aye he has done it a few times.
We have taken scalps before by parking the bus and sneaking a goal, we are getting a bit closer to beating them by playing the way we normally do and being half decent.
Imagine a group like Man U's, with them Basel Moscow and Benfica. Much more doable but he ho
was a minging group, our second seed was a top seed team, we were never going to get into the last 16 against that.
u need a bit of luck in the draw. we are fourth seed so getting third is progress.

god no mate, i'm saying "IF" we get third
Looking ahead to the next game, I hope whatever confidence the players take from last night is not undone if we get another doing from PSG.
They are clearly good enough to win it outright..... 17 goals scored and none conceded is a new record after 4 group games. Even one of their lesser known players scored a hat trick last night.....FFS

Gordon is frustrating sometimes he is amazing at saves then he has moments like rushing out and bad kicking,
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He should be tethered to his line like a goat.
FFS remember he came out and leathered the Alloa? player and got away with it
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you will find that they alloa lad was cheating

McGregor had a far better game than Armstrong.

Sometimes it's like they are giving a percentage score for potential
One thing i'm tired of reading is how this guy and that guy aren't good enough at this level.
Most of our squad have had it said about them at some point, hell even guys like Wanyama and Van Dyke had it said about them.
Forrest showed last night that on form he's good enough, just like most of our squad has at some point, there are ups and downs, too many people looking for a whipping boy.
In my opinion all of our regular players are good enough to play at the champions league level if they play to the best of their ability.

That’s the difference though between the top players and the rest. It’s how often they play at the best of their ability.
Use Craig Gordon as an example. He’s a good goalkeeper, but has moments of aberration. His kicking is erratic as well. If he didn’t have those traits, then it’s highly doubtful he would be at Celtic.
We have players that have flaws. That’s why we have them.
the save Gordon made was a regulation stop that's what hes there for
on the point Armstrong was everywhere, I'd run everywhere to play for Celtic, he gave the ball away 2/3 times in our half in the first half also chose to shoot instead of slipping Tierney in towards the end of the first half
in saying that McGregor made the same mistake with the pass to Dembele it should've went wide to Tierney
McGregor I thought was great all night, kept the ball well under pressure, I think when hes in the team our one touch passing in the opposition half improves dramatically
he wa brilliant first half at Pittodrie last week

I still can't work out if McGregor is our Xavi or our Iniesta
Enjoyed the game and the atmosphere despite the result. The positives were Forrest who I have very often criticised but deserves praise on this occasion. Armstrong was perpetual motion the whole game and though he might not always have done a lot with it going forward he seemed to pop up time and again and break up play when Bayern pushed forward. I said recently Sinclair owed us a performance in a big game and had been posted missing in in many of those big games since the tail end of last season. So no real surprise when he got the hook after 60 mins of running around and contributing very little.
I actually rate all our central midfielders, even down to guys like Henderson who cant get a sniff of the first team.
Rogic for me is the most talented, but unfortunately he's also the worst athlete and against the top teams you can't always get away with a player like him.
It's probably Brendan's most difficult decisions each week trying to choose the right combination for each match.
I still really rate Armstrong and I expect him to hit top firm again, but for me McGregor has been our most consistent midfielder this season.

Aye, BR certainly isn't short of options in the middle of the park! Assuming we play 2 genuine wide players, as we do most weeks (from Forrest, Roberts, Sinclair and Hayes), then you're looking at picking 3 from:
Brown
Armstrong
Rogic
McGregor
Ntcham
Kouassi
Bitton
Henderson
Ajer
... with Christie potentially to come back into that mix as well (as I don't see him as a winger).
Tough breaking into that area of the team! ... and some say we should sign McGinn?!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think there's a very good chance Armstrong will be sold, we're overloaded in that area and by only signing a year extension it's clear he's not entirely happy with most likely his contract.
