I think asking is not a silly thing to do, get him on loan or even buy him in Jan?
Gotta be done. He's a key piece of last seasons jigsaw. Him, a decent left back, a decent striker and a decent central midfielder and top 6 is ours Imo. We need a keeper but I wouldn't say it's top priority just now.

Do we want a defender who cannot get into the side of the 2nd worst Prem side. That time has passed.
I find it strange he's never had a real shot at Swansea. He was also excellent on loan for us 6 years ago and Swansea are very poor defensively, lacking a leader like him.
Only after signing a LB and a ST. Cooper is having a good season. There is no reason to sign a new first choice CB.
So you'd drop Pontus i guess ? but that partnership was one of the reasons our defence was so good last season.

Is Bartley even fit again?
The last i heard he was having surgery on his knee and was expected to be out for 3 months plus. That was the beginning of September.
Roll on 3 months and that brings us to the present day. I dont think hes been getting any match action yet because hes not yet fit?

Id assume that given he started the season well for Swansea and he was picked to play against ManU that when he it fit he will be very much back in Clements thoughts. Cant see it happening now unless we are promoted and Swansea come down but then really in that situation youd like to see us going for £10m centre backs
