Wanyama last season was better than Dier even in his best season for us.

Dier is currently the better player though, suits a 4231 more as well if playing alongside Dembele.

yeah like his first season in DM he was fantastic. But Wanyama has been out injured and not seen much of him, and what we have seen he has been awful which is clouding Bake 'em away toys (U7303)'s judgement possibly

My opinion is based more on how good I think Dier is rather than on Wanyamas form. I rate Dier big time and think he offers our defence/wingbacks more protection than we realise. I also think he is a good passer. I mean, the pass for Deles goal v Chelsea was as good as you will see this season.

I would say that Wanyama's outside of the boot pass to Kane (arsenal home) was as good as you would see last season.

I think Wanyama is better on the ball, Dier has the better long passing range. Dier is VERY bad at passing to the wrong option though.

I find it hard to like Dier so much because he is a very basic footballer. He can be very good at breaking up play and covering full backs and CBs but is not always playing this way. If he isnt playing this role he needs to be better at the cutting edge passes, which he frankly isnt good enough at to be a box to box CM, he also just looks to me as he thinks hes better than he is.

I think hes good on the ball for a CB

not as good as Toby was what i was getting at Chris. I like Dier a lot in a back 3 RCB or in the middle. Just sometimes when i see him in a back 2 he looks a bit uncomfortable but of course he'd need more game time there but with the guys we have this isnt going to happen. As 3rd/4th choice i have no issue at all

Also he is probably our second best player in the air defensively.

Is a good point. Probably about our only threat from an attacking corner too.

he loses a lot of aerial duels in midfield. he is good in the air from corners i suppose...when we actually find him...

He is not very good at passing out under pressure. I think saying he could be a class CB is a bit presumptuous at the moment, when he'd need a long run in the side in that position to prove this, which seems unlikely. Not dismissing it by all means.
