Predictions and Expectations....

I think before a ball had been kicked that i hoped that we would finish about 9th? Not sure, can't remember.
With our 2015/16 Champions success, then a difficult domestic season due to the Champions League last season, that we did quite well at the finish.

I thought & expected that Leicester City Football Club had now moved on and moved on well despite the managerial changes then and now.
Some dodgy transfer dealings, some good.
I had hoped that our future transfers, in & out, would have been a little better though in terms of success.

Also, at times, i think that the players took their foot off the gas after winning the league. Having accepted that they won a magnificent title triumph and that , that was good enough without testing themselves again.
They won it. Against all the odds. Why not try to get as close to the summit again? I would. Too right i would. Keep pushing yourself and your teammates.

Where we are now (today), i expect our team to at least finish between 7th - 10th at the very least, even though we are at transition stage.
If i'm honest here, i would be disappointed at 9th or worse.
Outside the top 6 (Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal & Spurs), we should be competing with Everton, Southampton and, maybe West Ham for the next 3 places below.
With all due respect to Burnley currently, we should be above them come season end. All the remaining clubs should be trying to catch us, surely? I'm convinced we have the better squad, resources and goals (achievements) to be above the rest. But you have to do it regardless.

Basically, i want 7th.
I think though that we will finish 9th.
8th it is then.

By the way Ktf1, we deffo should be pushing for the upper echelons of the league.

I don’t think we are a top 7 side. Attacking wise yes but not defensively and Puel has very little options in terms of squad depth for the positions that really matter

What’s the use of 6 strikers and not a single back up right back? It’s poor transfer policy that’s hampered both him and Shakespeare and until that improves I doubt we will see Leicester in the top 7 any time soon

For once BS is correct.
We are ok attacking wise (but could be better ) but our defence and set piece defending are pitiful.
Watford are a relegation quality side, yet they opened us up far too easily.
We have spent a lot of money, but seemed to have wasted most of it.
Would have loved to see us progress well in cups, should be in semi of league cup.
Think we will remain in position we are at present, but really should be above Burnley.
Hope we don't mess up at Fleetwood, live on tv , with all neutrals against us could embarrassing.
Still remember how much long term damage losing to Wycombe did,Still painful to watch.

Great post KTF1 and good responses.

Sums up my feeling as well.

I’ve always been a cautious optimist, so for me a don’t have the belief that Leicester can break the big boys monopoly on a regular basis, so I’m fairly happy with a top half finish if we’re challeging up rather than looking down.

Summer for Puel to bring his players in (hopefully his and not Marcia’s or Rudkin’s!), and next season will be one to build and my expectations will match our owners. Challenge for Europe. Win a cup. Look comfortable in the league.

And let’s be honest, after the lows we’ve seen in our recent history, that feels like a pretty good place to be.

Let’s rememver that. What a time to be a Leicester fan. Getting to watch the Vardys, Ndidis, Mahrezez and Kaspers. Some of the greatest players ever to grace our club.

It's now time for the long over due change, Claudio tried to do it and lsot his job. Our heroic EPL winners are three years older. Kante,DD have gone and Marhez will this summer at the latest.
Older players like Morgan,Huff and Fuchs are having there last days in the sun.
Will anyone ever replace Ozi i thing thats Silva's role and are King and James premiership quality anymore?

So we have to revolutionize the play and the coaching already reflects that and the players are responding and those that don't will go. we now play with the ball on the ground.

So as a work i progress after the disastrous start to the season top half and winning the FA cup will do for me.

Great Thread.

Predictions would be a top half finish and better targeted recruitment, not that could really get any worse.

I expect lots of speculation about some of our First team regulars but doubt if anyone will meet our valuations at least until Summer.

I see Liverpool fans have already been clamouring for them to target Maguire, not sure if that will abate now they’ve got one target down up.

We’re apparently getting Silva to talk his former teammate Andre Almeida into joining us, A Full Back no less.

Slowmani, Musa and/or possibly Ulloa out if we can find any suckers to get a decent fee back or pay their wages for a loan move.

Mersey's comments "Summer for Puel to bring his players in (hopefully his and not Marcia’s or Rudkin’s!)," are a real concern for most fans and should be for the owners - These guys have a lot to answer for.

Leaque position, my feeling is we should be 7th, but this season would accept 7th - 9th

Nev,our prem league winners are 2 years older, I think, not three.
Though some are playing like it was five years ago!

who mentioned Wycombe- my Christmas had been going quite well till then . I still wish we'd put out a full 1st team inc. Kasper against Man City. We could have beaten them. Suppose it will have to be the banana-skin-infested FA Cup now.
Mid-table will do for me, although it seems quite mundane after the excitement of recent seasons. As for the future, it's hard to look forward as managers don't stop around too long these days, not sure if Monsieur Puel is a long-term guy or not. Let's start by beating the 'pool on Saturday- with a good performance, a good ref and some luck it's quite do-able.

Allez le bleu!

Kp,sadly it was me mentioned the W word.Still rankles to this day.
Would love a good FA cup run,and we might get something at Anfield.Good ref permitting, but not sure there is such a thing.
See call me Bobby, made error on Boxing day,why is it always the same ones?

A good post here, thought provoking with intentions on my part to nip in at the first gasp of a reply some hours ago. Alas, it wasn’t to be.

It very much remains for me to be on the periphery of activity on this board, bolstered only by the regular consumption and digestion of television highlights and occasional locking on to live game viewing when it comes. So when it comes to input from the “outsider” here, it is very much based on what I have collected from afar. I shall, therefore, project this illustration from that which is probably no different to a neutral watching highlights of City in action on a Saturday night or, perhaps, picking up a Sky televised fixture the following day.

It doesn’t take a match report to illustrate the energy and willingness the players have poured in since the arrival of the new manager. Some, or certainly one in particular (Mahrez) who had fallen by the wayside through slovenliness and apathy under the old regime have a received a new injection of vitality. As mentioned above, there are those in the twilight of their careers, one of two stars in the making who remain young and have a lot to learn (Gray & Chilwell) but will be worth a fortune when, regrettably, the time comes for them to move on. The ‘warriors’ (KS, Vardy, Okazaki, Morgan, Simpson-a shame he can’t play in a 3-5-2-& Albrighton) seemingly continue to play out of their skins for the bulk of the time. Others I have this nagging doubts about, but, given time they should slot in perfectly well across the midfield. I have already ripped up one or two in the past and will continue to do so and when the time comes I shall don my armour and be prepared to incur your wrath if so be the case! On the other hand, I still remain indebted by your valuable contributions which put me in the picture somewhat.

I am pleasantly content with the current league standing, it is better than I expected at this stage despite some harrowing setbacks in recent weeks and needs to be maintained.

The FA Cup? We are well overdue considerable success here. Fortunately, memorable triumphs have exceeded miserable setbacks (Leyton Orient & Exeter City immediately spring to mind. I shouldn’t need to go through the personal heartache and torment of recalling that appalling day 16 years ago).

Expectations,
Finish Europe Lge
Expand the ground to 45k
Excellent summer window
Push for champions Lge

Predictions,
Finish 8th
No ground expansion
Spine of team leave or just get old
Rebuild job fails
Puel rotate's that much he disappears up his own *****
Replaced by big Nige to sort it all out again

I'm reasonably content with where we are, if I recall correctly I thought we'd end up about 9th.

I am not happy with the lack of ambition shown in the cup, we could now be looking at a genuine chance to get to a Wembley final.

I expect this attitude to the cup competitions to continue due to our owners target for Claude - this will no doubt be to challenge for a European placing in the league; as such, league points become everything and cups are secondary.

I can't blame him for this given his recent experience at Southampton and the common knowledge that are owners are quick to wield the axe once they deem it appropriate.

I hope he does get time to evolve the team, he's had a good start. I would not be at all surprised however to see him getting the boot after another year or so. As alluded to by others, to a large degree it depends on the support he gets in the next couple of transfer windows, which is the worrying aspect.

I think I was
8+ finish and a cup run

Transfer past history has cost us 2 managers
Hopefully this is rectified over the next 2

But have the feeling that we will be position filling in January rather than selecting targets,,

Lge cup was a major disappointment
Given our points before the game we were safe to throw 2 games
Id have gone full team v city
Definitely a missed opportunity
Big clubs will only put out weak teams in r3
And after we will need a full team or 9/11 every game

Forgot to say FA Cup for the last bit

Never throw ANY League games. Never.
You play to win & compete in every single one.
If our manager ever veered toward that i'd want him out the club. Sorry Dublin but it's how i feel. If the players get that mentality, we're shot as a club.

It looked very close to that last season when we were progressing in the Champions League. It nearly back-fired big time.

I can see us finishing top 10,maybe wfere weare now 8th
or hopefulyy push for Europa. Whatever it will be a roller coaster ride all the way, consistency is not our bye word. w 4-1 at saints, lose 0-3 at home to Palace. The annoying thing is that an Easier payh to Europawas in our hands, but we play an understregth ream at home in the qf of the league cup.

I,d love us to have a go at the FA Cup, but I fear we will put out an understrength team in a potential banana skin at Fleetwood For me put everything into the Cup.

As far as the Transfer Window goes we do have a head start as we do have a player already in (Silva). Just wonder how long it will take him to get up to speed with the pace of the PL, hehasnt played for 6 months. Hope CP is strong enoughto tell the club who he wants, not leave it to a non entity in a suit.

Above all hopr the club sticks with CP and not panic again with the axe if we slip into the lower echelons of the league. Above anything else this club needs a period of stability in management. Take note of Burnley. They stuck by Dyche even after getting relegated. Now he's top of the list when any supposed ' bigger' club comes looking for a manager.

Some great responses to KTFs post.
