I won't blame the ref. Even sheet teams know how to stop us with our pointless possession football. Everybody is whacking West Brom except us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What an idiotic comment. The ref decision influenced the game and has nothing to do with our overall performance
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's right though. We shouldn't be scrapping for a 1-0 win against this awful West Brom team. We played terrible nothing football and were only winning cos of a fluke goal, which is why we were in the position for a poor ref decision to cost us like that.

I'm not sure some of those players are very good and the bench looks a bit mince too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That's because they're not very good and the bench isn't very good either. We have the 6th best squad in the league.

I know that....but we would have won that game no matter how bad we were before.

that call was almost as bad as a call on liverpool v bolton where pepe reina was called for a hand ball on a kick. he was deemed over the line ,a play ive seen thousands of times since never called. today's play is never called as the defender was too close to react.
garbage call.

And if we played decent football and scored a couple we would have won the game no matter if Mike Dean makes a sh*tty penalty decision.

Becssuee you an idiot who wants to keep blaming wenger with your stupid head in the sand. When will you realise your club is being mugged off weekly by these refs instead of wandering brainlessly through life

Oh sometimes you need to win ugly like City did it at times. You dont get anything for fine football see the United game.

We blame the ref when you have to question him and it was at some games this season.

Some stupid comments here.

Yea be were brutal and probably didn’t deserve to win

Referees don’t play god and decide what outcome is fair though

No matter how shiiiit we were today the ref robbed us of 2 points. It’s the refs fault, not ours

posted on 31/12/17

According to some absolute clowns here, you only deserve a win if you absolutely batter a team to submission. City have won at least 3 games with absolute luck late goals where they haven't played well and in fact it was ludicrous City got a point today that's how lucky they are

No one is disputing that GT. We deserved to win the game simply based on the fact that we scored a legitimate goal and West Brom scored none (though I'm not fully convinced that it was a blatantly incorrect decision as much as it was a dubious one - Chambers does move his arms forward a little).

The issue is that it gives Wenger another convenient scapegoat to deflect away from the fact that his team underperformed yet again, especially away from home. The gulf in quality between the 2 sides is immense and this shouldn't have been a contest on paper. Which comes down to his own bad management.

Arsenal have been atrocious away from home in 2017 and Wenger needs to practice some introspection instead of bleating about refs to cover up for his own incompetence. Something is horribly rotten with our system on the road.

Name one team that batters teams away from home on a regular basis? I'll give you a clue, it rarely happens. Away from home is normally a tight affair where decisions have to be fair

We have by far the worst away record of the top 6. We can't defend. This goes back to last season too. We have the league's most extreme home/away disparity.

I know we arent good away from home, Renoog. No doubt. But if you go game by game there were some bad decisions by refs against us. And it cost us maybe a top 4 place.

People keep moaning about how if we played better the pen decision wouldn't have mattered.

FFS its the christmas period and we're playing 2 games a week. There's bound to be at least one if not more poor scrappy performance. Every team has had at least one poor performance. As others have said it shouldnt allow the ref to play god and decide what the result should be.

Are you going to apply the same analysis for every club in the division? I'm sure fans of other clubs would be all too happy to produce a similar list of injustices against their team.

Also funny how bad decisions in our favour don't get included in this sort of blame game. Like the ones that directly led to us winning an FA Cup last year.

If you cast your mind back into the not-too-distant past you'll remember that Arsenal used to compete quite regularly for the league, and won it very comfortably on several occasions. Was the Great Ref Conspiracy active at this time too? Or did it co-incidentally start just after we stopped being a serious threat to the title? This talk of ref conspiracies is all a massive distraction from the obvious decline in standards at the club, brought on by clinging onto a relic manager from the 90/00s and consequently being left behind by more modern clubs.
