Has been fantastic for us and generally has his weaknesses highlighted despite making less mistakes than most. Feel his time has come to an end as a starter though. Too top heavy and awkward on the ball. Been a great player for us though. Brave and a goal threat too.
It depends how you define legend of course. For me he can't be put on par with those other players because ability wise he isn't as good
Cahill is the equivalent of that fat kid at the back of a party who gets the girl at the end of the night, because he's the only one sober enough and the bird is absolutely w@nkered and will do anyone!
No facking chance. He is facki g rubbish

Thats a seriously bad analogy tbh. Like there are turns of analogies you could have made - this one just doesn't make a lot of sense.

Yeah I'd say if he wins another major trophy or two he's up there with Ivanovic. What is interesting though is that none of the managers have benched him for long when they are newly appointed unless I am mistaken.
Then where does he compare to players like Carvalho, Gallas or David Luiz?
I would probably put him ahead of all of them to be honest. I rate Carvalho really highly, he was a magnificent defender, but struggled with injuries at the end. Whereas with Cahill will probably make it to 300 appearances, winning multiple prizes.
Cahill for me is a journeyman Premiership player, capable of the odd gaffe through overplaying but a steady performer. Has won a lot with the Club and will as stated earlier will make over 300 appearances for us which is none too shabby.

The reason why moresperm is buttsore over Cahill. He was amongst many that were ripping into Cahill the day before he did this to them

He's one of those who'll be appreciate more when he retires. Think legend is a bit of a push, but very good servant to the club.
He's in the same bracket Cudicini's in
Depends what he wins between now and his last game for the club..
He's without a doubt a Chelsea great but I doubt we'll be talking about him in years to come like we would Lamps, JT, Drogs etc
He's the category below with the likes of Ashley Cole, Ivanovic, Essien, Makelele and Joe Cole etc
Cantona 7 you are fan of Man U who is criticising Gary Cahill when you guys had some hopeless players like Darren Fletcher and Wes Brown playing for your club who were not as good as compared to a player like Gary Cahill who has been a great player for Chelsea and I love him.He is actually quite underrated by both Chelsea and non Chelsea football fans.

Cahill legend status?

The last article for me thinking about Cahill and where he what his legacy would be at Chelsea. Theres fairly many Chelsea fans who don't particularly rate him, yet he's been a major player since he has joined.
Generally as a player we have seen better CBs than him, with Desailly, Carvalho, Terry, and even perhaps Luiz, Azpi, Ivanovic who could all be considered better as players.
However, Cahill has won every major trophy there is to win, and been an important part of the success in recent years. He's likely to stay on a lot longer, and has captained fairly decent teams.
He's had his periods of inconsistency, but he's been apart of some excellent defensive units in recent years.
Will he be remembered as being a decent player who played their part both in the transitional years but also during some successful spells? Or a terrific and dedicated CB who was dependable; achieving success playing in a fairly decent team.

Depends who and what you classify as a legend. For me, he's in the category below, which doesn't really have a term to refer to them by, so we just say they're legends as well.
He may not be our most talented defender we've had over the years, however he has similar characteristics to the others. A knack of scoring important goals, brilliant at 'backs to the wall defending' (making blocks, goal-line clearances and tackles).
I think he deserves to be seen up there with the likes of Ivanovic etc for his service to the club
